Sa Pa recently hosted the "Conquering Seo My Ty, the highest artificial lake in Southeast Asia" mountain bike race, attracting a large number of participants.
On October 13th, 150 athletes participating in the race traversed a challenging 15km course characteristic of the Northwest mountainous region, interspersed with stunning scenery including fluffy white clouds, dreamy lakes, blooming wildflowers, and the simple life of the ethnic people in Seo My Ty village, Ta Van commune, Sa Pa town, Lao Cai province.

Athlete Tran Van Dat from Binh Phuoc Cycling Club - winner in the men's youth category shared: "The Sa Pa race today was very challenging, more difficult than the routes I trained on in the South, but it gave me a lot of experience."
Athlete Do Trong Hung from Pho Yen Cycling Club, Thai Nguyen province - winner of the men's middle category - also expressed: "I am very happy to have won first place today, it's the first time I've won. The route was very beautiful amidst the clouds and mountains, creating a wonderful feeling."

What makes this race route special is that athletes not only conquer challenging terrain but also experience stunning natural scenery, such as terraced rice fields, sea of clouds, and Seo My Ty Lake - the highest artificial lake in Southeast Asia, located at 1,772 meters above sea level.

The cycling race to conquer the highest artificial lake in Southeast Asia marks the return of spectacular events at the Sa Pa National Tourist Area after the severe impact of Typhoon Yagi (Typhoon No. 3).
Mr. Cao Ba Quy, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Sa Pa town, Lao Cai province, said: "This is an activity to stimulate tourism , contributing to promoting to friends and tourists both domestically and internationally that Sa Pa has returned to a completely normal state for tourism. This activity also has another extremely important meaning: supporting and helping the people recover from the damage caused by typhoon No. 3."
On the opening night, the organizing committee received support from philanthropists and benefactors through the cycling teams, totaling approximately 1.5 billion VND. This greatly contributed to helping the people of Sa Pa recover from the damage caused by Typhoon No. 3.”
