The Red Journey program and the "Connecting Vietnamese Bloodlines" voluntary blood donation festival in 2024 were filled with excitement.

This morning, June 18th, in Vinh Linh district, the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation, in coordination with the Vinh Linh District People's Committee, organized the opening ceremony of the 12th Red Journey Program and the "Connecting Vietnamese Bloodlines" Voluntary Blood Donation Festival 2024. Mr. Hoang Nam, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation, attended the event.

Over 11 years of organization in 58 provinces and cities nationwide, the Red Journey - Connecting Vietnamese Blood has become the largest blood donation campaign in Vietnam, attracting millions of participants and receiving over 815,000 units of blood.

This not only completely resolves the shortage of blood for patients during the summer months but also raises awareness among millions of people about humanitarian blood donation. In 2024, the 12th Red Journey program was organized in 51 provinces and cities.

Prior to its organization in Quang Tri , the Red Journey had taken place in 14 provinces and cities, receiving over 8,000 units of blood at the main events and tens of thousands of units of blood at the supporting blood donation days.

Speaking at the program, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam acknowledged and highly appreciated the humanitarian significance that the Red Journey program has brought over the past time.

In Quang Tri, thanks to the attention of Party committees, government authorities, and the people, the humanitarian blood donation movement is spreading strongly, with the number of blood units received each year being higher than the previous year, meeting and exceeding the targets set by the National Steering Committee.

On average, the province receives approximately 10,000 units of blood annually, contributing to the national blood bank.

On this occasion, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee called on all collectives and individuals, especially leaders, managers, officials, civil servants, youth union members, students, and all segments of the population, to volunteer to donate blood for the health and happiness of the community, sharing love with patients in times of need.

At the Red Journey program, the organizers presented gifts to disadvantaged families in Vinh Linh district. Immediately after the opening ceremony, 550 people participated in blood donation. The organizers received 517 units of blood, thereby contributing to the blood bank and ensuring it is ready to serve the community's health care needs.
