Exciting Red Journey program and Voluntary Blood Donation Festival "Connecting Vietnamese Blood" in 2024

This morning, June 18, in Vinh Linh district, the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation coordinated with the People's Committee of Vinh Linh district to organize the opening ceremony of the 12th Red Journey Program and the Voluntary Blood Donation Festival "Connecting Vietnamese Blood" in 2024. After 11 years of being held in 58 provinces and cities across the country, Red Journey - Connecting Vietnamese Blood has become the largest blood donation campaign in Vietnam, attracting millions of participants and receiving over 815,000 units of blood.

This will not only completely overcome the shortage of blood for treating patients every summer but also raise awareness for millions of people about humanitarian blood donation. In 2024, the 12th Red Journey program will be held in 51 provinces and cities.

Before being held in Quang Tri , the Red Journey took place in 14 provinces and cities, receiving over 8,000 units of blood at the main festivals; tens of thousands of units of blood at the blood donation days.

Speaking at the program, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam acknowledged and highly appreciated the humanistic significance that the Red Journey program has brought over the past time.

In Quang Tri, with the attention of Party committees, authorities and people at all levels, the humanitarian blood donation movement has been increasingly spread, the number of blood units received each year is always higher than the previous year, reaching and exceeding the targets assigned by the National Steering Committee.

On average, each year the whole province receives about 10,000 units of blood, contributing to the country's blood bank.

On this occasion, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee called on collectives and individuals, especially leaders, managers, cadres, civil servants, public employees, youth union members, students and all classes of people to voluntarily donate blood for the health and happiness of the community to share love with the sick in times of difficulty.

At the Red Journey program, the organizing committee presented gifts to disadvantaged households in Vinh Linh district. Right after the opening ceremony, 550 people donated blood on this occasion. The organizing committee received 517 units of blood, thereby contributing to the blood bank, ready to serve the community health care well.
