On a day when Messi disappointed by missing a penalty that led to Inter Miami's 0-3 defeat against Charlotte, Son Heung-min delivered a brilliant performance for LAFC in their away game against the San Jose Earthquakes this morning.

Ahead of this match, Son Heung-min created a huge sensation in San Jose. Levi's Stadium, with a capacity of nearly 70,000 spectators, was completely full. The home team even had to repeatedly expand the stands to meet the demand for tickets.
The San Jose Earthquakes set a new record for attendance at Levi's Stadium, surpassing the previous record of 50,850 spectators.

Hope flickered for San Jose Earthquakes when, in the 18th minute, Preston Judd capitalized on a mistake by the LAFA defense to score and reduce the deficit to 1-3.
Throughout the second half, the home team relentlessly attacked but were unable to break through LAFA's defense. In the 80th minute, Son Heung Min was substituted. Most of the spectators at Levi's Stadium also stood up and left. They had missed the opportunity to witness two more goals. In the 87th minute, Bouanga completed his hat-trick with a close-range tap-in from a Palencia pass.
In the 90th minute, Palencia scored an own goal, allowing San Jose Earthquakes to reduce the deficit to 2-4. That was also the final score of the match.
With their victory over San Jose Earthquakes, LAFC is currently ranked 5th in the MLS Western Conference with 44 points after 27 games. They have a great chance of securing a playoff spot for the championship.
