NDO – From September 21 to 23, heavy rains occurred in Son La province, causing landslides on many roads. In particular, in Song Ma and Muong La districts, many long cracks appeared, posing a risk of landslides affecting people's houses and constructions in some communes.
At the hilltop area about 700m from Na Men village, Nam Ty commune, Song Ma district, there are cracks with a width of 40cm and a length of about 60m. According to initial assessment, there is a high risk of landslides, directly threatening the lives of 66 households, 344 people.
In Muong Chien village, Ngoc Chien commune, Muong La district, cracks appeared with a high risk of landslides affecting 70 households in Na Sang residential area, of which 15 households had to be urgently evacuated.
In Co Su Duoi village, Chieng Cong commune, Muong La district, there are 17 households located in an area at high risk of landslides, needing urgent evacuation, and 1 cultural house and 1 classroom at risk of being affected.

In Chom Co village, Ta Bu commune, Muong La district, there are 28 households and 142 people at risk of landslides, of which 7 households and 48 people are at high risk of landslides and need urgent evacuation.
Immediately after receiving the information, the People's Committee of Song Ma and Muong La districts established an inspection team led by district leaders, agencies, units of the district, People's Committees of communes and households in areas at risk of landslides to conduct field inspections.
The People's Committees of Song Ma and Muong La districts have sent a report to the People's Committee of Son La province proposing to implement a project to relocate residents in disaster-hit areas in the villages.
In Song Ma district, a project has been implemented to arrange, relocate, and resettle 66 households, 344 people, 1 primary school, and 1 Na Men village cultural house out of the landslide area.

For Na Men households, essential infrastructure systems will be built, including house leveling, road systems, rainwater drainage systems, domestic electricity systems, and domestic water systems to ensure stable lives for the people. It is expected that the investment cost will be more than 54 billion VND.
In addition, in Huoi Coi village area, Na Nghiu commune, Song Ma district, the Provincial People's Committee has also proposed to implement a project to relocate residents in the disaster area of Huoi Coi village for 57 households and 314 people.
However, due to heavy rain from September 12-20, in Huoi Coi village, 32 more households, 165 people, were at risk of landslides. All households wished to relocate according to the concentrated residential arrangement project.
Faced with the above situation, Song Ma district proposed the People's Committee of Son La province to implement a project to arrange and relocate residents in the disaster area of Huoi Coi village to resettle 89 households and 479 people. The estimated investment cost is about 69 billion VND.

In Muong La district, along with setting up a team to propagate, mobilize and monitor the situation of people moving to safe locations, the district immediately directed Chieng Cong commune to install 10 tents to relocate 17 households at high risk of landslides to safe locations. Directed Ta Bu commune to relocate affected households in Chom Co village to Nong Cop area, Chom Co village.
Muong La district is reviewing and submitting to Son La province for approval the project to relocate residents in the disaster-affected area for households in Na Sang residential cluster, Muong Chien village.
Propose to Son La province to declare a state of emergency regarding natural disasters to respond to heavy rain and landslides in Chieng Cong commune; urgently supplement the project of arranging and relocating residents in the natural disaster areas of Co Su Duoi village, Chieng Cong commune and Chom Co village, Ta Bu commune.
