According to residents of Phuong hamlet (La Van Thuong village, Quang Tho commune, Quang Dien district, Hue city), the erosion of the Rao Cung riverbank has been occurring for the past few days. Initially, only small cracks appeared along the riverbank of the road passing through Phuong hamlet. However, overnight, the entire stretch of road, more than 100 meters long, cracked and the roadbed collapsed, creating a difference of nearly a meter.

The crack appeared right at the entrance to people's homes and poses a risk of encroaching further into the gardens and houses inside.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Yen (residing in Phuong hamlet, La Van Thuong village) recounted: "This morning, as I rode my motorbike from my house down to the village road to go to work, I was extremely surprised and frightened to see a large crack tearing through a section of concrete leading to my yard, and a deep hole in front of it."

According to Mr. Phan Huu Luong, due to roads being cracked and damaged by landslides, people have to leave their motorbikes at the homes of acquaintances in the village and walk home. "We are very worried that if the landslides continue, people here risk losing their land and having their houses collapse," Mr. Luong stated.

At locations with minor landslides, residents have temporarily filled the areas with soil and rocks to allow passage.

According to the leaders of the Quang Dien District People's Committee, due to the long-term impact of the Rao Cung River's flow, the road in La Van Thuong village has been eroded, creating cavities that have grown underground. In recent days, the erosion of the Rao Cung riverbank has become even more serious.

In response to this dangerous situation, the leaders of Quang Dien district, along with relevant authorities, inspected and assessed the extent of the landslide's impact in order to devise immediate solutions and ensure the safety of the residents.

The People's Committee of Quang Tho commune has erected barriers and warning signs along the landslide-affected road to alert residents. Local authorities have also mobilized manpower and machinery to carry out temporary repairs, filling in landslide areas with soil, rocks, and crushed stone to ensure safe travel for residents and prevent the landslide from spreading.
