The leader of the Tay Ninh Province Department of Construction said that the subsidence phenomenon appeared from the evening of May 10 until this morning and continued to record the phenomenon of gradual subsidence on the morning of May 11. Functional forces are present at the scene to investigate the cause and fix the problem.

Some vehicles were dragged into the sinkhole.

This morning, the People's Committee of Hoa Hoi Commune, Chau Thanh District, issued a quick report on the incident. Accordingly, at around 4:00 a.m. on May 11, at the foot of Hoa Binh Bridge, a subsidence occurred with a length of about 35m and a depth of about 3m.

As a result, Mr. NVT (born in 1982, residing in Hoa Hoi commune) was driving a 70D-005 car carrying 3 people on board, including: NTT (born in 1955), NKN (born in 1988) and HBD (born in 2012, all residing in Cay Oi hamlet, Hoa Thanh commune, Chau Thanh district), moving from Hoa Thanh commune to Hoa Hoi commune, when reaching the above location, he fell into a sinkhole. In addition, there were 2 motorbikes moving from Hoa Hoa Thanh to Hoa Hoi commune, when they just passed the bridge, they fell into a sinkhole.

Initially, there were no reported casualties, but 6 injured victims are being treated at the hospital, and 3 other cases are being verified. In addition, the incident damaged 1 car and 2 motorbikes.

Hoa Binh Bridge was built in June 2024 and put into use on April 25, 2025, helping to connect the border communes of Hoa Hoi, Hoa Thanh and Bien Gioi commune of Chau Thanh district, especially helping the circulation of goods from the two sub-border gates of Vam Trang Trau (Bien Gioi commune) and Hiep Binh sub-border gate (Hoa Thanh commune).
