On the morning of January 20, Chinese authorities confirmed that 13 people were killed in a fire at a school dormitory in Nanyang City, Henan Province, central China. At around 11 p.m. on January 19, the local fire department received a call reporting a fire at the Yingcai School dormitory in Yanshanpu Village, Fangcheng County. The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) announced on January 20 that its Lunar Lander Survey Module (SLIM) had landed on the surface of the Moon.
