Working together to transform the urban landscape.
As evening falls in Long Thanh A hamlet, and the last rays of sunlight fade, alleyways 1 and 2 begin to light up thanks to the newly installed solar-powered streetlights. The previously dark and deserted streets, where residents were hesitant to travel at night, are now brightly illuminated, revealing the awnings and footsteps of workers returning home after work. Ms. Truong Thi My Lan, a resident of Long Thanh A hamlet, shared: “The people here are so happy! Since the streetlights were installed, children can feel safer returning home late from school, and those who work late at night are less worried. A bright street means less worry.”

The lighting in the small alleyways not only transforms the appearance of the residential area but also demonstrates the role of young people in building a civilized ward after the merger. The "Lighting Up the Countryside" project, implemented in Long Thanh A, Long Hung 2, and Long Thanh 1 hamlets, has become a prominent achievement of the youth in Tan Chau ward. With the alleyways illuminated, the security and order issues, as well as the risk of traffic accidents at night, have significantly decreased. Elderly people can walk safely at night, and children returning home late from extra classes no longer have to grope their way in the dark.
Besides contributing to security and order, the lighting system also transforms the urban landscape. The alleyways are cleaner, brighter, and more spacious, contributing to the completion of infrastructure in the process of building a civilized urban ward. Many households voluntarily contribute funds to maintain the lighting system, demonstrating that when young people do what the people need, the people will wholeheartedly support them.
During the period 2024-2026, youth union activities and movements throughout the ward achieved many positive results. The "I Love My Homeland" movement continued to create an environment for young people to train, contribute, and grow. The Vietnam Youth Union of Tan Chau ward coordinated the donation of 80 bicycles to poor students, totaling 160 million VND; distributed 350 gifts to disadvantaged students, worth over 105 million VND; mobilized the donation of 155 units of blood in the "Tan Chau Red Blood Drop, Connecting Love" program; and organized many activities to honor the past, express gratitude, and care for policy beneficiary families and those who have contributed to the revolution.
Starting a new life in a new homeland.
Not only are they at the forefront of community movements, but the youth of Tan Chau are also gradually asserting themselves on their journey to establish themselves and build their careers. In Long Thanh B hamlet, Mr. Nguyen Le Truong Sang boldly developed a chicken farming model, linking it to market demand and ensuring disease safety. Starting on a small scale, he gradually expanded his flock, creating a stable income for his family. Besides developing his own economy , he also shares his farming experience with many local youth union members and young people, encouraging them to learn and follow his example.
In Long Thanh A hamlet, Mr. Trinh Minh Khang chose to start his business using local produce with the model of "Thick - dipping sauce made from pandan leaves". From this familiar leaf of the border region, he researched and processed it into a product with a unique flavor, preserving the local characteristics while opening up a new direction in economic development.
Based on this experience, the Vietnam Youth Union of Tan Chau Ward has promoted activities to support young people in vocational training and entrepreneurship with many practical models such as oyster mushroom cultivation, high-tech rice farming, goat farming techniques, nail care, makeup, and handmade crochet. Nearly 300 members and young people participated in training courses, creating a foundation for many young people to confidently start businesses and stabilize their lives right in their hometown.
In its new term, the Vietnam Youth Union of Tan Chau Ward has set the goal of providing career guidance to 1,000 young people, with at least 200 securing stable employment; coordinating the disbursement of over 1 billion VND in loans to support youth entrepreneurship and economic development; and supporting at least one outstanding startup project. It also aims to recruit 520 new members and maintain the effectiveness of the "Lighting Up Rural Roads" projects.
Ms. Tran Thi Huynh Giao, Secretary of the Ward Youth Union and President of the Vietnam Youth Union in Tan Chau Ward, stated: “The goal of the Union in this term is to build the organization into a true common home for young people, promoting the pioneering spirit, creativity, and aspiration for contribution of the youth. When the Union is strong enough, close enough, and has sufficient influence, young people will become the core force in economic development, building a civilized urban area, and contributing to the sustainable development of Tan Chau Ward.”
