A newly emerging cloud-watching spot in Ta Xua
A new cloud-watching spot in Ta Xua, Son La province, is attracting attention from the tourism community. Located on Wind Peak, about 3 km from the center of Ta Xua commune, this location is already a famous sunset viewing spot. The special highlight is a natural ravine creating an open space, offering a direct view down into the valley of swirling clouds.
The sea of clouds, "framed" between two cliffs, creates a unique depth for the photographs. However, it should be noted that information circulating on social media about the altitude of 2,800 meters is inaccurate. In reality, the Wind Peak area and the center of Ta Xua commune have an average altitude of about 1,600 meters above sea level.
According to Diep Huu Dat, a local tour guide, this is a suitable destination for those seeking unique photo opportunities. However, he emphasized: "This area is a natural cliff with no safety railings, so tourists need to be extremely cautious when moving to the edge of the cliff to take pictures."

The ideal time and tips for cloud hunting.
The best cloud-hunting season in Ta Xua lasts from October to April of the following year. According to local experience, the sea of clouds is usually thickest and most beautiful when the air humidity is high and there is a large temperature difference between day and night, especially after rainy days.
The ideal time to admire this scenery is in the early morning, from 5:30 to 7:30 a.m. at sunrise, or in the late afternoon around 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at sunset.
Guide to transportation and accommodation
Move
To reach Ta Xua from Hanoi , visitors need to travel over 200 km, taking approximately 5-6 hours by car. The terrain leading to Ta Xua commune and the Wind Peak area is quite rugged, with many steep slopes and hairpin bends. Visitors should consider hiring a local motorbike taxi or have a steady hand on the handlebars if traveling by motorbike.
Food and accommodation services
Along the Wind Peak route, many services have developed to cater to tourists. Cafes with beautiful views include An's House, Cloud Forest, Mi Oi Cafe, Hien Cafe, and Panorama Coffee, with drink prices ranging from 40,000 to 60,000 VND. Local eateries like Thao Coffee or A Chen are also worth trying.

Regarding accommodation, Ta Xua offers a variety of homestay options. Shared rooms in stilt houses cost around 200,000 - 300,000 VND per person. Private bungalow-style rooms with direct cloud-watching views, such as at Miami Mountain Retreat, Ta Xua Clouds, or Lu Tre, cost from 800,000 VND to over 1 million VND per night.
Combined attractions
Besides Wind Peak, visitors can combine their trip with visits to other famous landmarks in Ta Xua such as the Dinosaur Backbone in Hang Dong commune, the lonely wild apple tree, or the Turtle Head rock formation. According to forecasts, temperatures in November will continue to drop significantly at night, creating favorable conditions for weekend cloud-hunting trips.
