Recreating the heroic history of the nation through the pages of books

“Vietnam, we call our name again/ What happiness is greater than being reborn/ Cooling the hearts of our ancestors a thousand years ago/ Giving life, two new glorious words!/ Today is the morning of September 2nd/ The capital of flowers, the golden sunshine of Ba Dinh...” (To Huu). With the spirit of gratitude to history, the People's Army Publishing House has just published the book series “Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2nd” consisting of 25 thick, elaborate books with good ideological content value.

Rich memories of the "flag bearer"

The book opens with vivid, emotional memories from the very people who shouldered the mission of leading the revolution in their very young years. Readers will see the purity and innocence of youth combined with great ideals, the desire to liberate the nation, and build a new future. Therefore, the memoirs not only recreate historical events with valuable documents but also the flow of the spirit of dedication, of the burning flame of faith, of enthusiastic dedication to the Fatherland.

Those are the true memories of comrades Hoang Quoc Viet, Truong Chinh, General Vo Nguyen Giap, General Nguyen Quyet, Senior Lieutenant General Tran Van Tra, Tran Dang Ninh... Names that have been engraved in history not only by their wise revolutionary line and courageous actions but also through pages of writing rich in ideals and filled with patriotism.

Some books in the book series

Some books in the book series "Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of August Revolution and National Day September 2nd".

The memoir “Two Prison Escapes” by Tran Dang Ninh recounts the journey of escaping from a French colonial prison, where political prisoners had to endure all kinds of torture with “beautiful” but actually brutal tricks such as “dancing”, “going by boat”... In those memories, there are still faint images of many elite revolutionary cadres such as Do Muoi, Tran Tu Binh, Le Trong Nghia, Le Tat Dac, especially Hoang Van Thu with messages like a flame of faith: “Even if you die, don’t forget your Fatherland!”.

The work “ Hanoi in August” by General Nguyen Quyet brings the perspective of the person who directly commanded the armed forces in the heart of the city, with emotional details about the people's hearts, revolutionary spirit and decisive instructions to seize power: “From early morning, Hanoi was lit up with red flags. Hanoi people took to the streets again. On August 19, they took to the streets to successfully revolt. Today, they took to the streets to celebrate Independence Day. Never before have so many people taken to the streets in Hanoi... The flood of people once again poured into Ba Dinh Square”...

Each page of the memoir, each line of notes from the insider is like a long bridge, helping today's readers not only recreate the arduous and dangerous revolutionary journeys but also clearly feel the seething breath of an era, where the youth not only knew how to love the country in words, but also dared to live, dared to commit, dared to sacrifice completely for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.

Lots of reviews, analysis, insights

Along with historical memories, the 80-year journey of nation building is also truthfully reflected through many research works, summaries, summaries, and in-depth records, helping readers understand more deeply the hardships overcome, the glorious victories achieved, as well as the strong development steps to build an increasingly rich and prosperous country.

These are the books: "Arming the revolutionary masses to build the People's Army" by General Vo Nguyen Giap; "Uprising to seize power in Hanoi in 1945 - Historical and realistic values" by many authors; "August Revolution 1945" by the Institute of Strategy and History of National Defense of Vietnam; " Ho Chi Minh - The leader of the Vietnamese people from the dark night of slavery to the autumn of independence in 1945" edited by Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Nhu Khoi; "War zones with the August 1945 General Uprising" by Colonel, Dr. Duong Dinh Lap...

The books provide readers with a rich, massive amount of material, presented scientifically, systematically, both detailed and coherent. Not only stopping at providing numbers, events, historical documents, the works also connect the past and the present through the traditional source of fighting to defend the country, through the valuable experiences of our ancestors. For example, in "Arming the revolutionary masses to build the People's Army", General Vo Nguyen Giap wrote: "The secret to the success of our nation in the 13th century, in the 20th century, as well as in the entire history of fighting victoriously against invading forces stronger than ourselves to survive and develop, is to rely on the patriotism of the entire people, promote the strength of the entire country, mobilize the entire nation to rise up, the entire country join hands, the entire people fight the enemy, carry out the entire people's uprising and people's war, taking the Army and the armed forces of the masses as the core".

Feelings about homeland and country on literary pages

In the book series about the 80-year journey of national history, there are also novels and long poems, conceived and written from the endless source of inspiration of independence and freedom. These can be literary works and poems that have been reprinted many times, passed down from generation to generation, becoming the common memory of the whole community such as "Dialogue in the Night" by Nguyen Chi Trung; "Lom" by Son Tung; "Dat Nuoc Hinh Tia Lightning" by Tran Manh Hao... Or books filled with fresh emotions written such as "Sang Moi Ngoi Lam Tran Hung Dao" by Hoang Quang Uyen; "Rung Viet Bac" by Le Toan; "Tieng Chim Rung va Dat Lua Tay Ninh" by Chau La Viet...

In each page of the book, readers encounter not only the shadow of a time of fire and bullets, the long years of resistance, but also clearly feel the breath of the times, the desire to live, the desire to contribute of a nation. The pages of literature have taken readers from the mountains and forests of Viet Bac to the capital with flags and flowers on the day of independence, from the city along the Han River at the beginning of the resistance to Saigon, Tay Ninh on the fiery battlefield... Just as the verse of Chau La Viet written in the long poem "The sound of forest birds and the fiery land of Tay Ninh" depicts: "Today I return to Tay Ninh/ The old base with many singing birds/ The forest is green like the immense spring/.../ I remember so many people who fought for our homeland/ Their names will forever remain with the homeland/ Their names in the hearts of the beloved people/ The fiery land of Tay Ninh and the sound of forest birds".
