Actor Thuong Tin passed away

Thanh Tung - the actor's son - said that Thuong Tin passed away at 6:50 pm on December 8, and this morning the family announced the sad news. He and his relatives are currently on duty at his home to take care of his father's funeral. The funeral took place on the morning of December 9, and the burial took place at 3:30 pm on December 10. The artist was buried at Hoa Thuy cemetery, Phan Rang.

Musician To Hieu, who was close to Thuong Tin during his last days, said that before his death, the actor lived at his mother's house. He was paralyzed on one side, had gone through a period of declining health and spirit, and had many underlying diseases. Musician To Hieu was present at the actor's house to take care of the funeral with his relatives.

Last March, artist Thuong Tin moved from Ho Chi Minh City to Ninh Thuan after a long time without a singing show. After that, he announced that he had broken up with Kim Chi - his partner who is 32 years younger than him. Their 12-year-old daughter is currently living with her mother.

In February 2021, the artist was hospitalized for a stroke. Seeing his difficult situation, some colleagues called for donations to help. In early 2022, after recovering, he switched to singing at some events and small music nights. To make a living while in Ho Chi Minh City, he used to drive a motorbike to deliver pho lau to the owner of a restaurant, saying that he did not only live on money from benefactors. However, due to poor health, after a period of manual labor to earn a living, he returned to his hometown and was cared for by relatives.

In 2023, the artist suffered a multiple-trauma accident that left him with osteoarthritis in his right knee and a fractured right patella. He was unable to walk and had to use a wheelchair. From then until his death, the artist lived in his hometown with the support of his family members.

People's Artist Kim Cuong - who has been with Thuong Tin since the beginning of his career - was heartbroken when she heard the news. The last time she saw him was in early 2024, at the Tri Am Artist reunion - a program Kim Cuong organized every Tet holiday for actors in difficult circumstances. At that time, despite his poor health after a stroke and Covid-19, Thuong Tin still smiled optimistically, saying that he was luckier than many people because he could still take care of himself and sing to earn money to support his daughter.

Actor Thuong Tin graduated from the Saigon National School of Music and Drama, then joined the Cuu Long Giang Drama Troupe and then the Kim Cuong Troupe. At the Kim Cuong Troupe, Thuong Tin acted with the "diva" Kim Cuong and became famous through many plays that left a strong impression on the audience such as The Rose Pinned on the Shirt, The Abyss of Height, Mother's Legend, Tanhia.

The most recent person the actor was with was named Kim Chi, and they had a little daughter together, named Thanh Thao.
