Strengthening cooperation between Buriram province, Thailand and localities of Vietnam

The Consulate General of Vietnam in Khon Kaen is ready to coordinate and support Buriram province in connecting and building sisterhood and cooperation relationships with Vietnamese localities.

On May 21, Mr. Dinh Hoang Linh, Consul General of Vietnam in Khon Kaen, Thailand, paid a courtesy visit to Mr. Piya Pijnam, Governor of Buriram Province.

At the reception, Governor Piya Pijnam congratulated Consul General Dinh Hoang Linh on receiving the Thai Government 's consular approval and expressed his belief that the new Consul General will promote the role of the Vietnamese Consulate General in 20 northeastern provinces of Thailand, contributing to strengthening the development of friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries in general, and between Buriram province and localities of Vietnam in particular.

Speaking at the meeting, Consul General Dinh Hoang Linh congratulated Buriram province on its impressive socio -economic development achievements in recent years, thanks to strong investment and effective promotion of its strengths in sports and tourism.

Consul General Dinh Hoang Linh emphasized that the recent upgrading of Vietnam-Thailand relations to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has opened a new chapter in the history of bilateral relations, and is an important foundation to create many good cooperation opportunities between the northeastern provinces of Thailand and the provinces and cities of Vietnam.

Also on May 21, before the second leg of the 2024-2025 Southeast Asian Cup Final at Chang Arena, Buriram province between the home team Buriram United and Hanoi Police Club, Consul General Dinh Hoang Linh and Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Tung, Director of Hanoi City Police, participated in an exchange program between Hanoi Police Club fans and overseas Vietnamese in Thailand, meeting and encouraging Hanoi Police Club players before the match.

Despite heavy rain at Chang Arena, more than 500 overseas Vietnamese from the northeastern provinces of Thailand came to enthusiastically cheer for the Hanoi Police Club team.

Hanoi Police Club played a great match, not letting down the efforts of many overseas Vietnamese fans and the delegation from the country who came to cheer.

Buriram United Club could only win 3-2 in the penalty shootout against Hanoi Police Club, after 90 minutes of regulation, two extra periods (draw 5-5) and became the champion of the 2024-2025 ASEAN Club Cup
