Strengthening inter-sectoral inspection of food safety during Mid-Autumn Festival

Implementing Decision No. 1150/QD-UBND dated September 17, 2025 of the People's Committee of Lao Cai province on the establishment of an interdisciplinary food safety inspection team during the Mid-Autumn Festival as well as at festivals and tourist attractions in the province in 2025, the province has established two inspection teams in charge of two localities: old Lao Cai and old Yen Bai.

Inspection team at food production, trading and distribution establishments during the Mid-Autumn Festival in Yen Bai province (old)

Accordingly, Team No. 1, led by the Department of Industry and Trade, will inspect communes in the old Yen Bai area; Team No. 2, led by the Department of Health, will inspect communes in the old Lao Cai area. The inspection period is divided into 2 phases: Phase 1 from September 18 to September 27; Phase 2 from September 29 to October 8, 2025.

On September 23, the Interdisciplinary Inspection Team No. 1 led by Mr. Pham Trung Lan - Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade inspected 06 establishments producing, processing, trading and distributing food for the Mid-Autumn Festival in the old Yen Bai area. Joining the team were leaders and experts of the Food Safety Department, Department of Health; the Industrial Management Department, Department of Industry and Trade; the Quality, Processing and Market Development Department - Department of Quality and Rural Development, Department of Agriculture and Environment; the Economic Police Department, Lao Cai Provincial Police.

At the facilities, the delegation focused on inspecting compliance with legal regulations on food safety, including: business registration certificates; certificates of establishments meeting food safety conditions; human resource conditions in food production, processing and trading; equipment and tools to ensure food safety and hygiene; self-declared product records; labeling of products and food additives; origin, source, expiry date; compliance with regulations on imported foods...

The inspection showed that, in general, the establishments producing, trading and distributing food for the Mid-Autumn Festival in the old Yen Bai area complied with the law, and no violations of food hygiene and safety were detected. The items, especially moon cakes, all had clear origins, full labels, and were within their expiry dates.

In addition to the inspection work, the delegation also integrated propaganda and dissemination of the Food Safety Law and related legal documents; guided and reminded production and business establishments to comply with regulations on conditions of facilities, equipment, knowledge and practices of direct producers; origin of raw materials; product registration and self-declaration; use of additives, colorants, flavorings; packaging and labeling of products. Thereby, contributing to raising awareness of establishments, minimizing the risk of food poisoning, protecting the health of consumers during the Mid-Autumn Festival.
