Rubber prices in Japan and Thailand rose to their highest levels in two weeks on concerns that adverse weather will disrupt global rubber production.

World rubber price

Rubber prices on some exchanges have risen to their highest in two weeks, as adverse weather conditions across global production regions, especially in Thailand – the world’s largest rubber producer, could disrupt supplies.

Besides, rising oil prices also put pressure on the synthetic rubber market and increased the price of natural rubber.

In the trading session on September 18, the price of RSS 3 rubber at the Osaka Exchange (OSE) - Japan decreased by 1.2 yen/kg, to 376.2 yen/kg for the September contract; the January 2025 contract decreased by 0.2 yen/kg, to 374.3 yen/kg.

The September natural rubber contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) in China reached 15,615 yuan per tonne after increasing by 0.26%; similarly, the January 2025 contract stood at 17,025 yuan per tonne after increasing by 1.1%.

Meanwhile, in Thailand, the price of RSS 3 rubber contract for September delivery in Bangkok continued to increase by 0.3% compared to the previous day, to 91 Baht/kg.
