Gold prices this afternoon, January 16, 2025: Following the global trend, SJC gold prices surged to 87 million VND/ounce, while gold ring prices also saw the sharpest increase, rising by 800,000 VND.

At the time of the survey at 13:00 on January 16, 2025, the gold prices on the exchanges of several companies were listed as follows:

The price of SJC gold, as listed by Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC), is 85-87 million VND/ounce (buying price - selling price), an increase of 400,000 VND/ounce in both buying and selling prices compared to the closing price yesterday. The difference between the buying and selling price is 2 million VND.

This price was also simultaneously traded by DOJI , Bao Tin Minh Chau Co., Ltd., and Bao Tin Manh Hai at 85-87 million VND/ounce (buying price - selling price), an increase of 400,000 VND/ounce in both buying and selling directions compared to yesterday.

At Mi Hong Gold and Gemstone Company, the SJC gold price at the time of the survey was listed at 85.7-86.7 million VND/ounce for buying and selling. Compared to yesterday, the buying price decreased by 300,000 VND/ounce and the selling price increased by 400,000 VND/ounce. The difference between the buying and selling price is 1.0 million VND.

State-owned commercial banks (Vietcombank, Vietinbank, Agribank , BIDV) listed the price of SJC gold bars at 87.0 million VND/ounce, an increase of 400,000 VND/ounce.

A sharp upward trend also occurred in the price of gold rings. Specifically, SJC increased the price of 99.99% pure gold rings (1-5 taels) by 300,000 VND for buying and 400,000 VND for selling, currently listed at 84.8 - 86.5 million VND/tael.

Gold ring prices at Phu Quy also increased by half a million dong this morning. After the upward adjustment, the trading price there is at 85.1 - 86.6 million dong/ounce.

Bao Tin Minh Chau listed the price of gold rings at 85.45-86.95 million VND/ounce (buying price - selling price), an increase of 950,000 VND/ounce for the buying price and 600,000 VND/ounce for the selling price compared to the beginning of yesterday morning.

Mi Hong is trading 999 gold rings at 85.5 - 86.5 million VND/ounce, an increase of 300,000 VND.

PNJ was the company that made the most significant price adjustments for gold rings this morning, with increases of 400,000 - 600,000 VND for both buying and selling, currently pegged at 85.2 - 87 million VND/ounce. This company also has the highest selling price for gold rings on the market this morning.

Global gold prices rose as the US dollar tended to weaken. After several sessions of decline, gold prices recorded an impressive increase last night, approaching the $2,700/ounce mark. The sharp rise in gold prices was boosted by a new US inflation report showing that the increase was not too rapid.

On the other hand, world gold prices rose significantly in the current trading session after the US released the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for December 2024. Accordingly, the core CPI (excluding volatile food and gas costs) in the US for December last year increased by 0.2% compared to the previous month, slowing down from the 0.3% increase in November of the same year.

On an annual basis, the CPI of the world's largest economy has risen 3.2% compared to the same period in 2023. Prior to that, the core CPI of the US had maintained an annual increase of 3.3% for the four preceding months.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) is a key indicator that the US Federal Reserve (Fed) often relies on to adjust monetary policy. The Fed's regular meeting to decide on the next interest rate is expected to take place later this month.
