However, the construction project faced difficulties due to weather conditions, with frequent afternoon rains causing interruptions to excavation and road leveling.

Furthermore, the recent increase in gasoline and diesel prices has led to a rise in construction material prices. Despite the difficulties caused by weather conditions and rising material costs, the investor and contractor are focusing on accelerating construction progress to ensure the project is substantially completed in 2026.

The investor and contractor have been mobilizing resources and personnel to accelerate the progress of the North-South Expressway expansion project (Cam Lo - La Son section), aiming to essentially complete the project in 2026.

Currently, on the project site, the investor and contractor have mobilized more than 500 vehicles and equipment, along with over 1,000 officials, engineers, and workers working in "three shifts and four teams" to ensure and accelerate progress. On the construction site for the expansion of both sides of the Cam Lo - La Son expressway, the atmosphere is bustling and urgent. Mechanical equipment such as road rollers, excavators, and trucks are operating continuously to remove weathered soil, excavate earth for road embankment, compact the foundation, and lay crushed stone aggregate…

Contractors have deployed vehicles, engineers, and workers to approximately 120 construction sites, covering items such as road sections, excavation, embankment, and compaction. In addition to widening the road surface, the project also involves the construction of 33 new bridges on the main route and two bridges on Provincial Road 16 and Provincial Road 12B in Hue City.

The project to expand the North-South Expressway (Eastern section) from Cam Lo to La Son, connecting Quang Tri province with Hue city, has a total length of nearly 99 km. The project's starting point is adjacent to the end point of the Van Ninh - Cam Lo Expressway in Hieu Giang commune, Quang Tri province; its end point is adjacent to the starting point of the La Son - Hoa Lien Expressway in Hung Loc commune, Hue city.

The project commenced at the end of 2025 and is expected to be completed at the end of 2026. The project is managed by the Ho Chi Minh Highway Project Management Board and has a total investment of over 6,400 billion VND.
