Creating value chains through strong linkages.

The collective economy, with cooperatives as its core, is gradually asserting its role in the economic development of rural areas. Thai Nguyen province currently has nearly 1,000 cooperatives operating in agriculture, handicrafts, and services, with total revenue exceeding 680 billion VND per year. These cooperatives not only reorganize production but also act as a link between farmers and the market, contributing to increasing the value of goods in a stable and sustainable manner.

The family of Mr. Ngo Duy Dong in Khuan hamlet, Dai Phuc commune, is one of the households actively participating in the Hao Dat Tea Cooperative. After more than 12 years of collaboration, his family has proactively improved their tea plantation, applying technical advancements such as using organic fertilizers and microbial fertilizers, producing according to VietGAP standards, and prioritizing biological pesticides.

According to Mr. Ngo Duy Dong, enhancing product value requires producers to strictly adhere to the process from planting and caring to harvesting and processing. Applying digital technology in production management helps control quality and ensure transparency. When cooperatives commit to purchasing the products, farmers can confidently invest, focus on improving quality, and maintain stable production.

In Tan Cuong commune, a key tea-growing area of the province, Hao Dat Tea Cooperative is one of the exemplary units in linking production with the application of science and technology. Through attracting households to participate in the cooperative, it has formed a relatively tight production chain, contributing to improving economic efficiency and gradually building a modern tea brand.

Ms. Dao Thanh Hao, Director of Hao Dat Tea Cooperative, said: "We supply input materials at reasonable prices and guide people to produce according to the correct technical procedures. The stages of care, irrigation, and harvesting are updated on the 'electronic farm' system, thereby helping to manage production uniformly and control product quality."

Previously, linking cooperatives with individual households faced many obstacles due to small-scale production practices and a lack of adherence to technical procedures. However, through dissemination of information, guidance, and support, cooperatives have gradually built stable links with the people.

Ms. Le Thi Huong, Director of BK FOODS High-Tech Agricultural Cooperative, assessed: "People's awareness has clearly changed, with many households proactively complying with the cooperative's production process according to standards. From the cooperative's perspective, the commitment to purchasing all products helps stabilize output, while simultaneously increasing the value of agricultural products and income for producers."

Not only in agriculture, cooperatives have expanded into many other sectors, contributing to job creation for rural workers. The Phu Khanh Cooperative in Vo Nhai commune, established in 2019, is a prime example. The cooperative provides regular employment for many workers, including the elderly, women, and people with disabilities. Their main work involves processing supermarket bags, with an income of 100-300 thousand VND per day.

Phu Khanh Cooperative organizes flexible production, delivering machinery directly to households, and assigning production quotas based on capacity, creating conditions for workers to work from home. Ms. Ly Thi Thuy, a member of Phu Khanh Cooperative, said: "This model is suitable for many groups, especially those who cannot work far from home. The assigned tasks are appropriate, helping workers maintain their income and stabilize their lives."

In practice, the proactive collaboration of cooperatives with farmers, building appropriate and effective production models, has contributed to affirming the role of the collective economy in rural development. This is an important basis for promoting the restructuring of agriculture, moving towards modern production, increasing added value, and achieving sustainable development.
