On July 18, the Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Investment and Trade Promotion Center (ITPC), and the Ho Chi Minh City Association of Mechanical and Electrical Enterprises (HAMEE) organized a conference to connect trade between Indian and Vietnamese enterprises in the fields of mechanics, electricity, electronics, digital technology and energy.

At the conference, delegates said that the Vietnam-India comprehensive strategic partnership has achieved impressive results in many fields, especially trade. According to statistics, trade between the two countries has increased more than 60 times, from 200 million USD (in 2000) to more than 14.3 billion USD (in 2023), making India the 8th largest trading partner of Vietnam. The import-export turnover in the first 6 months of 2024 between the two countries is estimated at 7.18 billion USD. For Ho Chi Minh City, the locality's export turnover to India in the first 6 months of 2024 is estimated at 240 million USD, an increase of 18% over the same period in 2023. Mr. Dao Minh Chanh, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Trade and Investment Promotion Center, emphasized that India has always been a strategic trade partner of Vietnam and the two sides still have a lot of potential to exploit.

The mechanical, electrical, electronic, digital technology and energy sectors are among the sectors with the largest import-export turnover between the two countries. Both Vietnam and India are focusing on developing this sector and this is a very good time to promote cooperation in a more effective direction.
This conference aims to connect trade between businesses of the two countries in the following industries: Paints and chemicals, agriculture and services, waste management, concrete equipment...
At the same time, providing complete solutions for concrete equipment, infrastructure; energy; solar energy; railway; infrastructure construction and railway transportation.

The event is expected to promote business connections between the two countries to find many potential partners and new business and import-export cooperation opportunities in the two countries' markets.
