Attending the meeting were representatives of leaders of 18 ministries, branches and agencies that are members of the APEC 2027 National Committee. Leaders of An Giang province attended the meeting online.
The meeting aims to review the progress of establishing and perfecting the Sub-Committees and the Secretariat; determine the work roadmap from now until 2027; review the preparation and implementation of infrastructure projects in the provinces and cities hosting APEC Year activities, especially in Phu Quoc - where the APEC 2027 Summit Week will take place.
Speaking at the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that hosting APEC Year 2027 is a top priority political and foreign affairs task, implementing Directive No. 25-CT/TW dated August 8, 2018 of the Secretariat on promoting and elevating multilateral diplomacy to 2030. This is also an opportunity for Vietnam to promote its role and responsibility, affirming its strategic position in economics and trade in shaping the new international economic order.
With such importance, the Deputy Prime Minister requested that APEC Year 2027 be successfully organized in all aspects, from content to reception, logistics, propaganda, and culture; creating a deep impression of Vietnam and bringing practical benefits to people and businesses, contributing to promoting peace, prosperity and sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific region.
The Deputy Prime Minister assigned the Secretariat to fully absorb the comments contributed at the Meeting, complete the overall work plan of the Committee for the 2025-2027 period, as a basis for the Sub-Committees to develop work programs.
Emphasizing that the amount of work to be carried out is huge, the Deputy Prime Minister requested to urgently complete the establishment and consolidation of 5 Sub-committees and the Secretariat in August 2025; promulgate operating regulations, develop a work program for 20205 and the entire 2025-2027 period in early September.
The member ministries and sectors of the APEC 2025 National Committee actively participated in the activities of APEC 2025 in Korea and APEC 2026 in China, both expressing support and promoting issues of interest to Vietnam, as a basis for the best preparation for APEC 2027.
Emphasizing the importance of forming ideas for APEC themes and priorities, the Deputy Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Content Subcommittee to soon develop themes and priorities for APEC 2027; organize various forms of consultation with APEC member economies, especially Korea and China - APEC hosts in 2025 and 2026, experts, and the domestic and foreign business community.
Regarding An Giang province, the Deputy Prime Minister highly appreciated the province's determination and proactive spirit in implementing infrastructure construction projects to serve APEC, emphasizing the spirit that infrastructure projects, especially the Convention Center, must be completed 3-6 months in advance.
In addition to infrastructure, An Giang province needs to allocate land to build APEC Park - a space to display art and cultural works of APEC member economies in accordance with convention, creating a tourist highlight for the locality.
The APEC 2027 National Committee is scheduled to hold its second meeting in early December 2025 to review progress and prepare for activities in 2026./.
