Creating sustainable livelihoods to reduce poverty for the people.

Over the past period, Nam Ka commune has implemented many programs to support the provision of seedlings, livestock, and preferential loans... aiming to create sustainable poverty reduction models and livelihoods for the people, especially ethnic minorities.

Báo Đắk LắkBáo Đắk Lắk05/12/2025

Having lived in the Krai village for over 20 years, despite being very hardworking, the family of Ms. Lo Thi Kim Nguyet (born in 1968, of the Thai ethnic group) still faces many difficulties due to limited arable land, aging orchards, and a lack of capital for production investment.

In 2021, Ms. Nguyet's family borrowed 30 million VND from the loan fund for near-poor households to develop their family economy .

With this capital and accumulated savings, her family focused on developing their family economy by raising pigs and chickens, buying fertilizers and seedlings to replant their coffee garden, and boldly investing in a mulberry cultivation and silkworm farming model.

Thanks to hard work and the application of science and technology in farming and livestock raising, the family's economy has steadily improved, and they escaped poverty in 2023. Currently, with 2 acres of land for mulberry cultivation and silkworm farming, and 7 acres of coffee, Mrs. Nguyet's family earns over 100 million VND annually after deducting all expenses.

Recognizing the effectiveness of the model, Ms. Nguyet shared her experience and knowledge with households in the village and commune to support economic development and contribute to poverty reduction in the locality.

Leaders of Nam Ka commune visited a model mulberry cultivation and silkworm farming farm run by local residents.

Similarly, in 2021, the family of Mr. Y Huê Kjiê (in Krái village) also boldly borrowed 50 million VND from policy credit sources to buy more seedlings, supplies, fertilizers, and drill a well to care for about 1 hectare of their family's durian trees.

Thanks to good care, the orchard yields high economic returns, producing about 2 tons of fruit annually, generating hundreds of millions of dong in income and stabilizing the family's finances. Mr. Y Hue's successful durian farming model has also become a trusted example, with people in the village and commune frequently visiting to exchange and learn from his production experience.

Thanks to his hard work, production, and ability to utilize capital effectively to generate high value and efficiency, Mr. Y Huê Kjiê is honored to be one of 13 exemplary individuals in the patriotic emulation movements of Nam Ka commune during the 2020-2025 period.

Not only the families of Mrs. Nguyet and Mr. Y Hue, but over the past period, thousands of households in the commune have received support in the form of preferential loans to develop agricultural production and diversify livelihoods, and have been given hundreds of livestock and thousands of various types of plants to develop their family economies.

Specifically, in August 2024, the locality provided people with nearly 1,300 Dona durian trees worth 120 million VND and 42 breeding cows worth nearly 910 million VND; in December 2024, they continued to provide 31 breeding cows worth 810 million VND…

With access to preferential loans, Ms. Lo Thi Kim Nguyet invested in replanting her coffee garden.

According to Mr. Nguyen Chi Luan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Nam Ka commune, in order to help people develop their economy, the local Party committee and government have implemented a comprehensive set of poverty reduction programs and projects with the biggest goal being to help people develop their economy and improve their material and spiritual lives.

In reality, thanks to the support of the State and local authorities, many households in the commune have been "given the tools" to create livelihoods, invest in production development, and gradually increase their income and stabilize their lives.

This is the right direction to help people find jobs, increase their income, and rise to legitimate wealth, making an important contribution to achieving the goal of sustainable poverty reduction and socio-economic development in the locality...
