In late April, reporters from Lao Dong Newspaper observed that travel agencies and resorts in Northwest Vietnam were busy preparing to welcome tourists.
Mr. Ngo Anh Tuan, General Director of Hoa Binh Tourism Company, said: “The 5-day holiday from April 30th to May 1st is a huge opportunity for travel agencies. To date, our company has received a significant increase in customers, and we anticipate a 300 to 500% increase in tour bookings this year compared to the same period last year.”
According to Mr. Tuan, deciding on holiday schedules at the last minute also poses a significant challenge for travel agencies, making it difficult to rearrange itineraries and extend other services.
Meanwhile, Mr. Bui Manh Thang, Director of Dat Muong Tourism and Transportation Company, shared that all vehicles serving tourists have been fully booked since April 29th.
"We've received many bookings, but we've kept the prices the same as usual. This year, most customers are traveling long distances due to the extended holiday and the trend is towards the Northwest provinces because they have many tourist destinations and very unique and impressive festival programs," Mr. Thang said.
Like travel agencies, tourist destinations are also busy preparing to welcome visitors. Ms. Tran Thi Mai Phuong, owner of Doi Nang Homestay (Moc Chau district, Son La province ), said that although the holiday is still nearly half a month away, all rooms have already been booked. Her family has had to hire several additional part-time staff, chefs, and equipment such as tables, chairs, and sound systems to accommodate the large number of guests expected in the coming period.
Ms. Vang Thi Mua, owner of LoLoEco Homestay in Dong Van town (Ha Giang), said that her family had built a new, larger facility, but all rooms are currently booked and they cannot accept any more guests.
"Normally we have about 8 staff members, but to prepare for the upcoming guests, we had to hire 10 more to be able to serve them," Ms. Mua said.
Similarly, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy, manager of Muong Phang Hotel (Dien Bien Phu city, Dien Bien province), informed that her establishment has 21 rooms, and most of them are fully booked from now until the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory.
On April 20th, speaking with Lao Dong newspaper, Mr. Cao Ba Quy, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Sa Pa Town, Lao Cai province, said that the locality has made preparations to welcome tourists to Sa Pa. Currently, hotels, resorts, and restaurants are 80% booked due to advance reservations. It is expected that rooms will be fully booked during the holiday period.
According to Mr. Bui Xuan Truong, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hoa Binh province, the 5-day holiday period from April 30th to May 1st, with its rich system of tourist destinations, is expected to attract a large number of visitors. It is estimated that approximately 180,000 visitors will be received, including 20,000 international tourists, and total revenue from tourism is expected to reach around 135 billion VND.
According to Mr. Truong, the department has directed the Management Boards of tourist areas and attractions, and tourism businesses and services in the area to ensure the safety of tourists, strengthen control to ensure security, safety, fire prevention, and disease prevention in accordance with regulations and recommendations of the health sector.
Ensure environmental hygiene and landscape preservation at tourist attractions; require tourism businesses and individuals to strictly comply with regulations on registration, price listing, and selling at the listed price; prevent arbitrary price increases, soliciting, and coercion of customers...
