Bringing Vietnamese culture to the people of Africa has always been my and my group's heartfelt wish. This small act of kindness allows the people here to learn about Vietnamese culture, and the fact that it has been well-received by the people of Angola makes me very happy. This is the sentiment shared by Pham Quang Linh (Pham Quang Linh Vlog, 24 years old, from Nghe An province ), currently living in Angola (Africa). Linh and his group are bringing a new lease of life to this country, which is perpetually scorched and arid.
The work of Linh and his group of friends has also been documented by Pham Quang Linh himself through the photo series "Team Africa Proud of Vietnam". The author submitted this series to the "Happy Vietnam" photo and video contest, organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications . Vietnam.vn is pleased to present this photo series to you!
Five years ago, Linh decided to move to a country on the other side of the globe to find a new life. Initially, the young man from Nghe An worked in construction. After some time, having saved up some capital, Linh opened a small stone workshop. This was also when Linh first started his YouTube career in 2019. Linh shared: “ My initial job here was construction, then I started the stone workshop. That’s when I started making videos and posting them on YouTube, hoping to get viewers and share my work here so my family and friends would know about life far from home. I didn’t think so many people would know about it now.”
The positive reception of these actions motivated the group of young people to do even better for the local community. Linh and her group discussed and decided to launch a project called "5000 Children Go to School." This project started less than a month ago when they witnessed the difficulties faced by the children in this area who lacked the opportunity to attend school.
“This project is the biggest passion of our group. Besides wanting to help 5,000 children go to school, we are also renovating the learning environment for the children, including painting classrooms and buying desks and chairs for them,” Linh said about the group's project.
These Vietnamese men share the same aspirations and love for their homeland, Vietnam, its people, and Angola as their second home. We met, bonded, and joined hands to contribute to the people and the land in distant Africa. That is Team Africa. We are proud to be Vietnamese, proud to bring the image of Vietnam to our African friends through the simplest and most ordinary things.
According to Linh, the journey to help the people of Angola stems from the heart of each member of the group. He received enthusiastic help from strangers when he first arrived. This is the time when he wants to bring something good to them.
"I can sense that they are getting better and happier every day despite lacking many things. It is because of things like that that I want to help even more people," Linh said emotionally.
