To care for Mother for life

In the early days of 2026, the care and support of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers continued to receive special attention from various units. Heroic Mother Vo Thi Pham (born in 1939, residing in Quang Phuong neighborhood, Dien Ban Bac ward) is the mother of martyr Le Ngoc Diem and martyr Le Thi Tra, both of whom bravely sacrificed their lives in the resistance wars to protect the Fatherland. To provide more comprehensive care for her, from January 2026, the Trade Union of the Son Tra Regional Medical Center officially undertook the lifelong support of Mother Vo Thi Pham with a monthly allowance of 1 million VND.

Meanwhile, the Sky-Line Education System Trade Union recently undertook the lifelong support of Heroic Vietnamese Mother Trinh Thi Thin, demonstrating the gratitude of today's generation towards those who contributed to the revolution. Mother Trinh Thi Thin (born in 1928, Hoa Cuong ward) had a husband, martyr Luong Thai, and two children (martyrs Luong Thi Hai and Luong Ba) who all bravely sacrificed their lives for the Fatherland.

In the spirit of "showing gratitude and repaying kindness," from January 2026, the Trade Union of Da Nang International Airport Terminal Investment and Exploitation Joint Stock Company will provide support to five Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, including: Lam Thi Bay (born in 1935), Tran Thi Dung (born in 1929), Van Thi Day (born in 1925), Vo Thi Chu (born in 1927, all residing in Thu Bon commune) and Tran Thi Van (born in 1938, residing in Xuan Phu commune).

Mr. Truong Cong Tam, Chairman of the unit's Trade Union, said that the company provides monthly support of 1 million VND to each mother, contributed by union members. Providing support to these mothers is a responsibility, demonstrating the deep gratitude and appreciation of the staff and workers for the great and noble sacrifices of previous generations for national independence. Besides maintaining the support funds, the unit regularly pays attention to their health, visits them during holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year), bringing warmth to the mothers in their old age.

Complete and heartfelt affection

In order to bring the Lunar New Year to revolutionary veterans and families of policy beneficiaries, many activities expressing gratitude continue to be implemented by localities and units.

Ms. Ho Thi Hoai Thanh (Pho Nam residential area, Hai Van ward) is a beneficiary of government social welfare policies. She lives in a dilapidated, old house with peeling paint and many patches of crumbling walls due to the 2025 floods. Understanding Ms. Thanh's difficult circumstances – her advanced age, declining health, and solitary life – and her inability to repair her house, the Hai Van Ward Police Youth Union organized a project to help her renovate her home for Tet (Lunar New Year). Using paint donated by the City Red Cross and contributed labor, the youth union members worked together to paint, renovate, and decorate, giving Ms. Thanh a cleaner and more beautiful new home.

Similarly, the house of Heroic Vietnamese Mother Le Thi Buoi (residing in Group 11, Hai Van Ward) was recently renovated by Hai Van Ward youth union members and officers and soldiers of the Hai Van Border Guard Post in time for Tet. The youth union members also cleaned the house and wiped down the altar of the martyrs, making the house even more welcoming.

At the city level, the City People's Committee leadership has issued Plan No. 31 on organizing visits and gift-giving to people who have rendered meritorious services to the revolution, their relatives, policy beneficiary families, special groups, social groups, and organizing ceremonies to pay respects and offer incense during the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Horse 2026, with a total budget of nearly 336 billion VND.

Accordingly, in addition to giving Tet gifts as stipulated by the Central Government and Resolution No. 39/2025/NQ-HĐND of the City People's Council to policy beneficiaries and meritorious individuals, the city will also give Tet gifts in kind worth 500,000 VND/person to families of meritorious individuals receiving monthly allowances; families worshipping martyrs, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, veteran revolutionary cadres, pre-revolution cadres, and heroes of the armed forces who have sacrificed or passed away. The distribution of Tet gifts and payment of regular allowances will be completed before February 10, 2026, ensuring that all meritorious individuals and their relatives can celebrate Tet warmly and with full affection.

According to a representative from the Department of Meritorious Persons, under the Department of Internal Affairs, there are currently 294 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers in the city receiving monthly preferential allowances. Of these, 276 mothers are receiving support at a rate of 1 million VND/month or more, and 18 mothers are receiving support at a rate of less than 1 million VND/month.

To further improve the quality of care and support, the Department of Internal Affairs has sent a document to agencies, units, and localities to launch and call on units, businesses, organizations, and individuals to continue participating in providing lifelong support to these mothers. At the same time, it requested an increase in the support amount to a minimum of 1 million VND/month/mother for cases that have not yet reached the target.
