Every year, as the year draws to a close, universities organize meaningful programs for students to celebrate the Lunar New Year.

Receiving lucky money, connecting, and socializing will make celebrating Tet away from home feel truly "warm".

At Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan Dung, Director of the Communication Center, said that in an effort to bring a Tet holiday filled with love to disadvantaged students who cannot afford to return home, the university organized the "Students Celebrating Tet Away from Home" program, which involved approximately 150 students.

"Each student will receive a Tet gift and a lucky money envelope worth approximately 800,000 VND. At the program, students will enjoy cultural performances, network, and have New Year's conversations with school leaders, teachers, and alumni," shared Ms. Xuan Dung.

Simultaneously, the school organized the 2026 Spring Volunteer Campaign to allow students to participate in practical activities during the Tet holiday, such as a voluntary blood donation day; visiting and caring for families of policy beneficiaries and Vietnamese Heroic Mothers; visiting, giving gifts, and engaging in cultural and artistic exchanges with families of officers and soldiers serving at border guard posts in the city, border areas, and islands; and launching clean-up and general environmental sanitation campaigns.

Meanwhile, before the Lunar New Year holiday, thousands of FPT University students participated in many folk games, experiential booths, and lively and exciting interactions and networking events at the spring festival held right on the campus.

On January 8th, many students boarded the "F-Trip 2026" bus, sponsored by the school, to return home and celebrate Tet (Lunar New Year) with their families.

Taking them back to their hometown for Tet (Lunar New Year), then picking them up to return to school.

This year, Saigon University is supporting 142 disadvantaged students to return home for Tet (Lunar New Year) on a "reunion bus." Of these, 5 students are from the northern provinces, 122 from the central region, and 15 from the Central Highlands.

For students from other regions, the program provides free bus tickets at the actual fare. In addition, each student receives a Tet gift and a lucky money envelope worth over 500,000 VND.

It is understood that accompanying the students on these buses are staff members from the university who provide full support regarding meals and overnight accommodation, ensuring the health and safety of the students throughout the journey.

According to the leaders of Saigon University, the "Reunion Bus Trip - Supporting Students to Return Home for Lunar New Year" program is a practical and meaningful activity aimed at supporting students in difficult circumstances, especially students from areas affected by natural disasters and remote regions studying at the university.

Besides the "Reunion Bus" that takes students home for Tet (Lunar New Year), Saigon University also organizes a "Spring Bus" with three buses planned to pick up 95 disadvantaged students and bring them back to school after the Tet holiday, departing on February 26th from the furthest point in Nghe An province.
