On the afternoon of February 23rd (the 14th day of the first lunar month of the Year of the Dragon), the Tran Nhat Duat Temple historical and cultural site at the foot of Van Trinh mountain, in Linh Hung village, Quang Hop commune (Quang Xuong district), held the Lantern Festival celebration for the Spring of the Year of the Dragon 2024.

Tran Nhat Duat was the sixth prince, son of King Tran Thai Tong, born in the year of the Rabbit (1255), originally from Nam Dinh. He was not only a courageous military strategist but also a tolerant politician , diplomat, and erudite cultural figure. He was the one who created the Van Trinh folk song style - one of the first styles of Vietnamese ca tru singing.
Tran Nhat Duat made significant contributions to the two wars of resistance against foreign invaders, protecting the independence and sovereignty of Dai Viet, and further enhancing the heroic spirit of the Tran Dynasty in its three victories against the Mongol invaders. He once defended the Da Giang border region in Tuyen Quang, and was later entrusted by King Tran with governing Thanh Hoa , where he established a large estate in the Van Trinh area.
The temple dedicated to Prince Chieu Van Tran Nhat Duat is currently being proposed for recognition as a national historical and cultural relic.
After his death, the court, his relatives, and the people of the region erected a temple in his honor at the foot of Van Trinh Mountain. The Tran Nhat Duat Temple, after renovation, was recognized as a provincial-level historical and cultural relic in 2004.
Legend has it that on the full moon of the first lunar month, the Venerable Chieu Van expressed his reverence for his ancestors by offering sacrifices and setting up altars to pray for a new year filled with good fortune and prosperity for the people.
The site is of high architectural and artistic value.
At the Văn Trinh mansion, he released floating lanterns, staged lion dances, and lit lanterns for the people to watch. Inside the mansion, he held a feast to entertain soldiers and guests; organized the opening of the seal and the first writing ceremony; bestowed rewards, titles, and military pay; and organized games and performances such as chess tournaments, martial arts demonstrations, singing, and poetry recitation. Everyone discussed the beauty of nature and relaxed under the moonlight...
Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Hop commune, Nguyen Hoai Nam, delivered the opening speech for the Lantern Festival.
In his opening remarks at the Lantern Festival, the leader of Quang Hop commune affirmed that, in the past year, through unity and concerted efforts, the Party Committee and people of Quang Hop commune have leveraged their internal strengths to successfully complete socio -economic, national defense and security tasks; the people's lives have improved; the commune has achieved 15 out of 19 criteria for building advanced new rural areas, contributing to changing the appearance and vitality of the homeland.
The villages in Quang Hop commune, along with a large number of people, offered gifts to Prince Chieu Van Tran Nhat Duat on the occasion of the Lantern Festival.
Building on the achievements of the past year, in the year of the Dragon (2014), Quang Hop commune is determined to complete the goals and tasks of socio-economic development, ensure national defense and security, and build a prosperous and strong homeland; continue to preserve and promote the tangible and intangible cultural values of the provincial-level historical and cultural relic, the Tran Nhat Duat Temple; strive to have the Van Trinh folk singing recognized as an intangible cultural heritage, and aim for the Tran Nhat Duat Temple to be classified as a national-level historical relic.

Within the framework of the Lantern Festival at Tran Nhat Duat Temple, many activities took place, such as the traditional calligraphy ceremony, cultural performances, and the performance of Van Trinh folk songs... These are unique cultural features organized on the 14th day of the first lunar month every year, contributing to the preservation and promotion of the traditional cultural values of the provincial-level historical and cultural relic, Tran Nhat Duat Temple, and meeting the needs of people and tourists for celebrating the spring festival.
