In his second year of university, Thien Nhat used 30,000 yuan (102 million VND) of savings to open a dumpling shop. Business was going well, so he continued to open a second shop. Although he focused on business, his academic performance was still excellent. His university graduation score was ranked 3rd in the whole class, so Thien Nhat easily passed the entrance exam to the Law Department of Peking University for a master's degree.

During his studies, Thien Nhat's grades were always at the top. In addition to studying hard, he also actively participated in many extracurricular activities. Thien Nhat won first prize in the Beijing University Speech Contest.

In May 2014, Thien Nhat and 3 friends joined hands to open Phuc Nguu restaurant specializing in beef noodles. To start the first beef noodle shop, Thien Nhat contributed 70,000 NDT (more than 240 million VND), his 3 friends contributed 35,000 NDT (more than 120 million VND).

However, this amount was still not enough to open a store in Beijing. When he was discouraged and wanted to give up, luck came. A store in the food court in the basement of the shopping mall returned the space, and he quickly rented it back.

At first, the shop only had 3 employees, he was the chef, waiter and cashier. Recalling the early days of starting the business, due to lack of staff, he got up early in the morning to buy ingredients, then was busy until night. After only 1 week of opening the shop, the revenue reached 20,000 NDT (more than 68 million VND).

Because of his love for literature and writing, he often writes articles in magazines and newspapers in his spare time. By chance, Thien Nhat wrote an article: "Why did I sell noodles after graduating with a master's degree?". Immediately after that, the article attracted attention, so many customers and reporters came to find out.

The restaurant's revenue has dropped to zero since the Covid-19 outbreak. At this time, Thien Nhat was extremely worried. After calming down, he thought about selling online. As soon as he came up with the idea of online business, he immediately started livestreaming 16 hours a day. On the record-breaking day, he sold more than 100,000 servings of beef noodles.

After 10 years, Thien Nhat's beef noodle restaurant Phuc Nguu now has more than 15 stores in Beijing. The market value of his beef noodle restaurant chain is estimated at about 1.5 billion yuan.

Thien Nhat's decision to give up a stable job to start a business has caused a lot of controversy. In 2014, on the program Chinese Youth Speaks , the story of selling noodles by the master of law at Peking University became a hot topic.

At that time, the queen of household appliances, Ms. Dong Minh Chau, thought that Thien Nhat was wasting the country's educational resources: "You should close the store. I don't understand what happened?". In response to Ms. Chau's harsh reaction, Thien Nhat only replied: "Beijing does not lack good lawyers, but it lacks delicious bowls of noodles."

Now, 10 years later, Thien Nhat’s success is the answer to this right choice. Everyone’s definition of success is different, however, today’s youth need more choices. After his own experience, Thien Nhat believes that young people should be encouraged to follow their inner voice, instead of blindly following the traditional path to success.

Thien Nhat's experience shows that although his choice was once considered unusual. However, after 10 years, his success is the answer to his perseverance and courage. His choice to start a beef noodle business is not only a business opportunity, it is also a way to preserve the culinary culture of his hometown. He is not bound by traditional factors, daring to follow the path he chooses.
