“Spring tea fragrance - Tan Cuong specialty tea region” is an annual festival, organized by the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen city every year in early spring for more than 20 years, to honor tea trees and traditional tea growing; at the same time, creating opportunities to promote production, improve quality and value, contributing to promoting the potential and strengths of tea and community tourism of Tan Cuong specialty tea region. The festival takes place for 3 days, from February 7-9 (ie from January 10 to 12).

This year’s festival has many rich activities, such as: Organizing competitions, carrying beautiful tea trees and creative tea products; tea picking, tea roasting, and packaging competitions; tea making performances; culinary creativity contest from green tea; exchanging about tea culture, organizing booths to display and introduce, promote OCOP products of Thai Nguyen city…

In particular, this year's Festival has a grassroots running race and a Thai Nguyen Tea Cycling Race, with the participation of nearly 2,500 athletes from inside and outside the province. The activities have created unique and impressive features of the Festival, attracting the attention and participation of many people from tea-growing communes in particular and Thai Nguyen city in general.

At the opening ceremony, the leaders of Thai Nguyen City People's Committee signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation to stimulate tourism associated with community tourism in Tan Cuong specialty tea area; connecting tea product consumption with business partners inside and outside the province.

Tan Cuong specialty tea region is a place where traditional and modern values converge and crystallize; along with the flow of time, it has created a rich and unique cultural feature of Thai Nguyen homeland. Tan Cuong tea growing and processing profession began in the 20s of the 20th century.

Tan Cuong tea area currently has a total area of about 1,500 hectares, with an output of over 23,000 tons of fresh tea buds, reaching a value of nearly 1 billion VND/1 hectare in 2024. With an average price of dried tea buds of 500-600 thousand VND/kg. The highest is over 10 million VND/kg.

The unique conditions of soil and climate, along with the people's tea growing and processing skills, have created the special quality of Tan Cuong tea products, which is considered the "First Famous Tea" region of Thai Nguyen province, and is one of the five national products registered for geographical indication protection nationwide.

In 2023, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued a Decision to include "Knowledge of growing and processing Tan Cuong tea" in the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
