Báo Lai ChâuBáo Lai Châu12/06/2023

(BLC) - Than Uyen is a locality with a rich traditional culture. Party committees and authorities at all levels here are proactively implementing solutions to preserve long-standing humanistic values. Thanks to that, folk culture is less likely to be lost due to the flow of time and foreign culture...

Than Uyen is a fertile land with a rich cultural heritage of 10 ethnic groups living together. However, the reality shows that some traditional cultural values of ethnic groups in Than Uyen district as well as many other localities are at risk of being lost due to the impact of the market economy and the explosion of information technology. Traditional cultural space is shrinking, housing architecture, customs, costumes, and festivals of some ethnic groups have changed. Many folk songs, traditional dances, ethnic musical instruments and some handicrafts are at risk of being lost. The younger generation also rarely uses ethnic languages in communication.

In order to preserve and promote the fine cultural identities of ethnic groups associated with tourism development in the period of 2021-2025, with a vision to 2030, contributing to the transmission and promotion of many beautiful traditional cultural features, the District Party Committee has focused on leading, directing and organizing implementation with many key solutions. During the implementation process, Than Uyen district always focuses on propaganda work, contributing to raising awareness of Party committees and authorities and creating consensus among the people of all ethnic groups in the district in preserving and promoting fine cultural identities.

Folklore is passed down in schools in Than Uyen.

According to Mr. Lo Van Huong - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Than Uyen district, in recent times, Than Uyen district has focused on researching, collecting, restoring, preserving and promoting folk cultural values. Up to now, Than Uyen has successfully restored the festivals: Kin Pang, Han Khuong of the Thai ethnic group and the new rice festival of the Kho Mu ethnic group. Along with that, at performances and cultural festivals, communes with ethnic minorities have reenacted festival excerpts: going to the fields, new house, bride procession, coming-of-age ceremony, gau tao... of the Dao, Mong and some other ethnic groups living in the district. Thereby, the customs and beautiful features in daily life are passed down and promoted, creating new vitality.

Along with that, in recent times, Than Uyen district has also maintained the activities of cultural and artistic teams in the community. Up to now, the whole district has 131 artistic teams regularly organizing and maintaining cultural and artistic activities. The district has also maintained the establishment of 2 Then singing and Tinh lute clubs in Muong Cang and Hua Na communes. Some localities have established and improved the effectiveness of the Folk Culture Conservation Campaign Committee and Thai Folk Song Clubs in the localities.

According to Mr. Lo Van Soi - Muong Cang commune, through the activities of art groups and teams, they have contributed to bringing more space for performing culture and folk performing arts. This is a natural and effective way to pass on art - folk culture only asserts itself and survives while attracting more and more audiences after each performance.

In order for folk culture to contribute to beautifying children's souls, recently, Than Uyen district has also focused on building clubs to preserve and promote the cultural identity of ethnic groups in schools in localities throughout the district. According to Mr. Trinh Ngoc Hai - Head of the Department of Education and Training of Than Uyen district, schools throughout the district have formed folk dance, panpipe, stall and folk game clubs. Some schools also mobilize artisans to teach traditional crafts such as embroidery and weaving. Thanks to that, traditional folk culture not only contributes to beautifying children's souls but is also nurtured right in schools.

The synchronously implemented solutions will help preserve cultural beauty, contributing to improving cultural life in residential areas; many traditional beauties have had a strong attraction to tourists, becoming tourism products of the windy land of Than Uyen.
