On February 29, the founding ceremony of the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association at Saigontourist Group took place at the Majestic Hotel (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City).
Japan is one of the most important tourism markets of Vietnam. In recent years, the number of Japanese tourists to Vietnam has continuously increased, contributing significantly to the development of Vietnam's tourism industry in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular.

According to Saigontourist Group, the hotels, resorts, restaurants, travel agencies, golf courses, etc. in the system serve over 200,000 Japanese tourists and the Japanese community living and working in Vietnam every year.
This unit also brings tens of thousands of Vietnamese tourists each year to participate in tours to experience and explore Japan.
Speaking at the founding ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Head of the Party Committee's Organization Board, Chairman of the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City, said that the founding ceremony took place on the occasion of the Emperor's 64th birthday.
Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Phuoc Loc and the Consul General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City presented flowers to congratulate the leadership of the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association.
According to Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc, as of November 2023, there were more than 1,600 Japanese investment projects in Ho Chi Minh City with a total capital of more than 5.7 billion USD, accounting for 10% of total foreign investment in the city. Relations with Japanese localities in particular and Japanese partners in general are always one of the top priorities of the city government.
The projects and works supported by the Japanese Government and people in Ho Chi Minh City such as: Cho Ray Hospital 1 and soon Cho Ray Hospital 2, metro line 1, Tau Hu - Ben Nghe basin water environment improvement project, Doi canal - Te canal... are playing a role in helping the city's infrastructure move towards modernity, which is also the driving force to help the city's economy develop.
The Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee said that the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City has coordinated with branches and partners of the two countries to organize many activities that attract a large number of people, especially young people and students, to learn and experience such as: the 8th Japan - Vietnam Festival, Ikebana Ikenobo flower arrangement art exhibition...
Mr. Pham Huy Binh, Chairman of the Board of Members of Saigontourist Group and Head of the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association at Saigontourist Group, assessed that this event marked a new step of development in the friendly cooperative relationship between Saigontourist Group and Japanese partners.

"We believe that the cooperative relationship between Saigontourist Group as well as the city's tourism and service businesses and Japanese partners will continue to tighten, consolidate and develop the friendly and cooperative relationship between the two countries, contributing to promoting the stronger development of the Vietnam - Japan tourism industry," said Mr. Binh.
On this occasion, over 70 hotels, resorts, restaurants, entertainment areas, and travel agencies under Saigontourist Group simultaneously applied special promotions on room services, dining, tours, etc. for Japanese visitors to Vietnam and the Japanese community currently living and working in Vietnam. The program will run until the end of 2024.
