Ho Chi Minh City inaugurates Phu Tho Circus and Multi-Purpose Performance Theater

The project was directed to be invested and constructed by the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City. The project marks an important step in completing the city's modern cultural institutional system, contributing to affirming the city's position as a leading cultural and artistic destination in the country and Southeast Asia.

Phu Tho Circus and Multi-purpose Performance Theater is located on Lu Gia Street, Phu Tho Ward, with an area of 10,000m2, located in the Phu Tho Sports and Cultural Complex. The project started construction on April 25, 2023. The total investment is 1,395 billion VND, the project is classified as Group A, Level I, with 2 basements and 12 floors above ground, with a total height of 57.5 m.

The total floor area is nearly 29,500 m², including a 2,000-seat main auditorium with a central stage; a 300-seat auditorium-gymnasium on the 8th floor; an exhibition-conference area on the 10th floor, a large-capacity dining and kitchen area on the 11th floor, and a multi-functional rooftop terrace that can be used to organize outdoor events.

According to the organizers, the project is directly implemented by the Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Management Board – the unit assigned as the investor. The construction process is guaranteed thanks to the smooth and effective coordination between professional teams of prestigious domestic and foreign partners.

In the next phase, the City's Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Project Management Board will continue to be responsible for urging, supervising, and completing specialized equipment items for the 2,000-seat and 300-seat performance stages.

The unit will coordinate with the Department of Construction, Department of Culture and Sports, and the City Arts Center to organize acceptance and handover, ensuring related contents so that the project can be put into operation on schedule, officially serving the audience from the end of 2025.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy said that after completion, Phu Tho Circus and Multi-purpose Performance Theater will be both a place to organize circus performances and special art forms, a center for performing arts training, and a place to organize conferences, meetings, exchanges, and activities for a large number of artists.

In order for the project to be put into use soon, promote investment efficiency, and become a destination that attracts a large number of domestic and foreign audiences, Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy requested the Department of Culture and Sports to assign the beneficiary unit to urgently complete the project, strategy, and plan along with a combination of synchronous, long-term, and comprehensive solutions so that the stage here is continuously lit; the core goal is to attract audiences to the theater.

Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy requested to create an attractive environment for artists to boldly commit themselves and create conditions and mechanisms for cultural and artistic organizations to research and explore directions for sustainable development, with the ultimate goal of developing to serve the audience.
