The city of Taksi in Xinjiang was designed by Qiu Chuji, a famous Taoist of the Quanzhen school, based on the Bagua diagram from the Southern Song dynasty, with the aim of preventing floods.
Qiu Chuji (February 10, 1148 - August 21, 1227) was one of the seven great disciples of Wang Chongyang, the founder of the Quanzhen School. This was a famous Taoist sect in ancient China with the principles of serving society, respecting truth, and striving for the ultimate truth.
The writer Jin Yong based the character Qiu Chuji on history in his novels *The Legend of the Condor Heroes * and *The Return of the Condor Heroes *, portraying him as a highly skilled martial artist who often acts righteously and is frequently referred to as the Evergreen Immortal.
