Changed but 'lost substance', new Apple lineup is pale

Like every year, the Tao Quan program aired on the night of the 30th of Tet, waiting for the audience. Especially, this year the program has a big change with a completely new Tao cast, the old staff of Heaven only has the Jade Emperor left.

Not only the actors have changed, Tao Quan 2024 also has new content. Instead of letting the Taos report on the court, the Jade Emperor and Nam Tao go down to the human world to check on the actual situation of the people.

Through this tour, the program mentioned many issues: Handling corruption, the "chaotic livestream" situation, mountainous students having their food rations cut, the "frozen" real estate problem, problems related to life in "mini apartments"...

However, because it was too "greedy" to review the outstanding issues of the past year, the satire of Tao Quan 2024 was not as sharp as previous years but rather superficial and listing. The program spent most of its time pointing out the shortcomings related to real estate and the situation of buying and selling apartments, making the overall content cumbersome and lacking in highlights.

It can be seen that the production unit has made great efforts to renew Tao Quan 2024. However, these changes make most of the audience feel unfamiliar when watching.

Many audiences have not adapted to the new format of "Tao Quan 2024".

Information about the new cast of actors playing the new Taos once made the audience curious and expectant. However, the 4 Taos: Literature, Economics , Traffic, and Society did not really meet the audience's expectations.

The Taos appeared at the beginning of the program and at the end of the program, they met the Jade Emperor to talk and report. Without the rhythmic and profound juggling like before, the new Taos were quite pale in the overall program, not leaving a strong impression on the audience.

With a rather safe performance style, lacking innovation, the image of the Tao can hardly become a breath of fresh air for the program.

The new cast of Tao has not created any highlight yet.

Tao Quan 2024 still retains the parody music for the actors to show off their singing talent, reminding them of the show's "specialty". However, the parody music of Tao Quan 2024 does not focus on satire, criticism or creating laughter, but simply the back-and-forth dialogue between the characters.

Not only that, many viewers are very annoyed when encountering crude advertisements inserted into the program's content, such as the part where the Jade Emperor and Nam Tao innocently read the advertisement message in the scene advising "drunkards" to go home to eat with their wives and children.

Ngoc Hoang and Nam Tao even used the brand’s products as props for the scene of giving gifts to children in the highlands whose food rations were cut. These two characters also continuously showed off the apps installed on their phones to promote the brand.

Continually encountering advertisements inserted directly into the program, many viewers had to exclaim: "Awkward", "lost substance".

However, a part of the audience still thinks that the change of Tao Quan 2024 is a remarkable step. Tao Quan has been on air for more than 20 years, changing to make the program more fresh and attractive is a necessary thing to do.
