The people got involved.
The ancient village of Loc Yen remains intact, harmoniously blending natural scenery with centuries-old houses. These ancient houses are preserved by the local people, and the government is working together to conserve and promote the value of the historical site, thereby serving the development of cultural and garden tourism in the area.
The village has eight ancient houses, aged between 150 and 200 years, that have remained intact over time. Living in their 186-year-old house, inherited from their ancestors, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hoan and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Kim Suong meticulously care for the house every day and welcome visitors.
Ms. Suong said: “Since Loc Yen was recognized as an ancient village, the number of domestic and international tourists visiting the village has increased. My husband and I, like other families with ancient houses, strive every day to serve tourists better. When tour groups contact us in advance, we can prepare more thoroughly. Individual visitors who come without prior notice sometimes mean that our family is busy and cannot open the village for tours. Visitors to the village can enjoy seasonal produce, with fruits from the gardens and various traditional cakes such as banh tet, banh u, banh it la gai, banh thuan, etc., all brought out to serve them.”

The people of Loc Yen Ancient Village have gradually become accustomed to tourism and have joined the Loc Yen Ancient Village Green Tourism Cooperative to connect with and welcome visitors.
Mr. Tran Quang Tin, Secretary of Party Branch 4, said: “When we started developing tourism, both the village committee and the people lacked experience and familiarity. But with the establishment of the cooperative, and with guidance and support on how to develop tourism and connect with tour operators, we now have groups visiting Loc Yen every day. The people have seen the value brought by tourism, especially the unique values of Loc Yen with its ancient houses, moss-covered rocks, distinctive local food and products, and fruit orchards... so they are taking better care of their houses and gardens to make them cleaner and more beautiful to serve tourism.”
Promoting the value of historical sites and scenic spots.
Thanh Binh commune currently has two national-level historical sites: the Huynh Thuc Khang Memorial Area and Loc Yen Ancient Village, along with six provincial-level historical sites and scenic spots. This is a crucial advantage for Thanh Binh to exploit its potential and opportunities for tourism development, creating new products based on the local natural resources. The commune has significant potential and favorable conditions for developing an ecological agriculture model combined with experiential tourism, leveraging its existing advantages.

Mr. Duong Duc Lin, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Binh commune, said: "To make tourism a strong economic asset of Thanh Binh, the commune must implement many solutions simultaneously in the coming time. Specifically, the commune and villages will focus on mobilizing people to invest in developing garden and farm economies, prioritizing the planting of native fruit trees and medicinal plants suitable to the soil conditions."
In addition, the commune will connect agricultural production models with community tourism and ecotourism to create sustainable livelihoods. It will develop and create tours and routes linked to historical sites and typical scenic spots such as the Huynh Thuc Khang Memorial House, Loc Yen Ancient Village, Bat Cave, and Lo Thung. The commune will also seek investors and proactively coordinate and link with businesses and travel agencies to promote the local image and attract tourists to Thanh Binh.
The People's Committee of Thanh Binh commune will continue to advise the Party Committee to issue a specialized resolution on the development of ecotourism and rural agricultural tourism associated with the preservation and promotion of the value of historical and cultural relics in the area.
At the same time, we recommend that the City People's Committee and relevant departments and agencies pay attention to and prioritize investment in the transportation infrastructure connecting key tourist destinations in the commune, creating favorable conditions for attracting tourists and developing the local economy.
Support the development of model farms combining garden-based economic activities with homestays, serving as a basis for people to visit, learn from, and replicate effective practices throughout the commune.
This will help put Thanh Binh tourism on the tourism map of Da Nang city, support the connection of tours and routes in the city, and encourage investment in tourism infrastructure development.
