Sofyan Amrabat has completed a loan move to Real Betis from Fenerbahce, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Amrabat once played for MU.

The 29-year-old Moroccan midfielder has signed a contract until June 2026, with Betis paying his full salary. The deal does not include a buyout clause. Amrabat's arrival adds experience and solidity to Betis' midfield.

Amrabat made a big splash in Morocco's historic run to the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup, where his relentless pressing and physical stamina were highly regarded. He made over 100 appearances for Fiorentina and played a key role in their run to the 2023 Europa Conference League final.

Amrabat joined United on the final day of the summer transfer window in 2023, on loan from Fiorentina. This deal is expected to bring solidity and strength to United's midfield, especially after his impressive performance at the 2022 World Cup.

Amrabat has made 21 appearances in all competitions for United, including 10 starts in the Premier League. Although he is primarily a defensive midfielder, he has been used at left-back by coach Erik ten Hag at times due to a shortage in the squad, which has prevented him from performing to his full potential in his best position.

After the end of the 2023-24 season, MU did not activate the purchase clause for Amrabat. He returned to Fiorentina and was then sold permanently to Fenerbahce, before continuing to be loaned to Real Betis.

The deal comes at the same time as Betis make their biggest summer signing – signing Antony dos Santos from Manchester United on a permanent transfer.
