The red flag flutters atop the "Hanoi Flagpole." A group of officials and students from a school in Hanoi are enthusiastically taking group and individual photos. For Hanoians, encountering the Hanoi Flagpole at the southernmost point of the country is an experience like no other. A sea of flags as dozens of people, all wearing shirts with the national flag and the five-pointed yellow star on their chests, create a stunning scene. Ngoc Phuong, from the far Northwest, was deeply moved: "I once visited the Lung Cu Flagpole (Dong Van - Ha Giang ), the northernmost point of the country… At the foot of the Lung Cu Flagpole, I longed to visit the southernmost point of the country to see the flag fluttering in the wind.
