The Hanoi Department of Education and Training said that in the literature exam, 102,440 candidates took the exam, reaching a rate of 99.6%; 420 candidates were absent. At 201 exam sites in the city, there were no candidates and no exam invigilators violating the regulations.
After finishing the literature exam on the morning of June 7, the candidates left the exam room with bright faces.
There are 12 candidates who need assistance taking the exam due to health problems and need to use medical equipment.
Although this is the first year of implementing the 10th grade entrance exam according to the 2018 General Education Program, Hanoi's literature exam in the 10th grade entrance exam is considered to be within the candidates' ability, and candidates can easily achieve 7-8 points. The materials and topics are familiar and close to life, and the literature exam has been slightly innovated.
The test was assessed as being within the required level.
Teachers of the literature group, Hocmai Education System also commented that the test closely followed the requirements of the sample test announced by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training. At the same time, it was consistent with the implementation orientation of the 2018 General Education Program with 2 parts: reading comprehension (4.0 points) and writing (6.0 points). The reading comprehension part had 5 questions exploiting the material; the writing part included the requirement to write a 200-word paragraph (question 1) and a social argumentative essay (question 2).
According to teachers, in the reading comprehension section, Vietnam has just had a series of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification with historical stories and heroic images of the war, so perhaps when an excerpt from the poem "Happiness" by Giang Nam appeared, the verses: "It took thirty years/For the country to have the day we were free to walk on the streets"... also created many emotions for the candidates.
According to predictions, candidates can easily get 7-8 points.
The first two questions of the exam are at the level of recognition and understanding, requiring identification of the poetic form and images expressing the father's wishes in the text, which is a relatively light requirement; question number 3 requires identification of the content from the context of the poem's composition, and question number 4 analyzes the effect of repetition. Candidates should pay attention to answering the correct content of the question, avoiding rambling.
For application question number 5, candidates only need to write briefly, expressing their true feelings about simple happiness in 5-7 lines and need to pay attention to ensuring the length and sticking to the main content of the question.
The questions are not difficult and are quite familiar to students.
The writing part is worth 6.0 points. Candidates should note the requirement to write a 200-word paragraph (question 1) analyzing the last five lines of the text "Happiness" with limited requirements on the scope of the material and capacity.
Question 2 requires writing an essay answering the question: "How to always find joy in school years?" is not a difficult requirement, quite close to school age and surely Hanoi students are quite familiar with this topic during the review process.
This year's literature exam is not too difficult.
