During the no-makeup segment of the first semi-final of the MGI All Stars 2026 competition, the fact that the Laotian beauty and many other contestants received scores of 1 or 2 from judge and composer Omar Harfouch sparked much debate on beauty pageant forums.

During the bare-faced competition, Mika's husband, seated in the audience, expressed his outrage at the score Omar gave her for the bare-faced segment. The moment Omar took the stage, Mika's husband shouted loudly to show his disapproval and received support from those around him.

Omar continues to face outrage from beauty pageant fans worldwide . In response to public reaction, he stated: "I understand the public's anger regarding the scores I released today. However, for me, the judging process doesn't end tonight. This is a preliminary selection process and will continue tomorrow and on the 30th."

During the second semi-final night, Mr. Omar also clasped his hands in apology to the representative from Laos, Milanda Aengmany, after giving her 1 point in the no-makeup segment, causing the beauty queen to burst into tears on livestream. Afterward, Mr. Omar gave her 5 points in the swimsuit segment.
