Thanh Son Town pays monthly preferential allowances in full and on time according to current regulations.
In Thanh Son town, there are currently 187 meritorious people including war invalids, sick soldiers, relatives of martyrs, resistance fighters infected with toxic chemicals, demobilized soldiers... who are receiving monthly preferential allowances with an average total payment of about 600 million VND/month. In 2024, the town proposed and resolved 14 burial fee files for meritorious people; from the beginning of 2025 to now, 4 burial fee files for meritorious people have been resolved.
In recent years, along with socio -economic development, ensuring national defense and security, the Party Committee, government, Fatherland Front and mass organizations of Thanh Son town have thoroughly grasped the Party's directives and resolutions, the State's policies and laws on caring for wounded soldiers, families of martyrs, families with revolutionary contributions and other policy beneficiaries. With many practical activities, the town has actively spread the tradition of patriotism and the morality of "When drinking water, remember its source" to all classes of people, especially the young generation, making everyone deeply aware and appreciative of the great contributions of heroic martyrs and those who have contributed to the country. At the same time, actively discover and replicate typical advanced examples in the "Repaying gratitude" movements, joining hands to help policy families overcome difficulties and improve their lives.

To effectively carry out the work of caring for people with meritorious services, Thanh Son town has closely followed the plans and instructions of the district; reviewed and resolved preferential regime records, health insurance cards and paid subsidies fully, promptly, and to the right subjects, without errors or complaints. To ensure that the living standards of families of people with meritorious services are equal to or higher than the average of the residential community, the town has proactively reviewed and grasped the living conditions of people with meritorious services and their relatives, directed mass organizations to stand up as credit guarantees, support policy families to borrow capital for economic development; coordinated to open training courses to transfer science and technology in animal husbandry and cultivation; paid attention to and prioritized children of families of people with meritorious services to enjoy vocational training support programs and job creation.
Along with that, the Town People's Committee has coordinated with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, sectors and organizations to review the current situation and needs for support in building and repairing houses for people with meritorious services and their relatives, poor households and households with housing difficulties in the area. In 2025, the town has 1 war invalid who is supported to eliminate temporary houses. In addition, every year, on holidays, especially the occasion of the War Invalids and Martyrs Day, the Party Committee, government, Vietnam Fatherland Front, associations and organizations of the town such as the Veterans Association, Women's Union, Farmers' Association, Youth Union also actively participate in the work of gratitude and care for people with meritorious services such as taking care of martyrs' cemeteries, lighting candles in gratitude on July 27, contributing working days to help families with preferential policies; supporting and guiding the construction of economic development models, helping families with meritorious services increase their income...
In the visiting activities, in addition to the gifts from the Party, the State, the province, the district, and the town always allocates a part of the local budget to organize meetings, visit, and give gifts to policy beneficiaries and meritorious people; organize visits, light candles in gratitude, and offer incense at the martyrs' cemetery. Comrade Dinh Ngoc Tuyet - Vice Chairman of Thanh Son Town People's Committee said: "In recent times, the lives of families of meritorious people in the area have been constantly improved to the average living standard of the locality. In particular, policy families and revolutionary families have always been exemplary in building cultural families and building civilized urban areas. Many war invalids and sick soldiers clearly demonstrate their determination and perseverance, implementing well the teachings of President Ho Chi Minh "war invalids are disabled but not useless" and promoting the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" in economic development and raising filial children and grandchildren".
The activities of “Repaying gratitude” and taking care of people with meritorious services in Thanh Son town have truly become widespread movements with many forms of organization and many specific and meaningful actions.
