In 2007, Tan Son district was established according to Resolution No. 61 dated April 9, 2007, of the Government, based on the adjustment of the administrative boundaries of Thanh Son district to establish Thanh Son and Tan Son districts. After 17 years of establishment, to conform with the overall socio -economic development plan, the national urban system, and the urbanization trend of Phu Tho province, at the Eighth Session of the 19th Provincial People's Council, a proposal was approved to establish Tan Phu town, fulfilling the legitimate aspirations of the Party Committee, government, and people of Tan Phu commune in particular and Tan Son district in general...

The infrastructure system in Tan Phu commune has been invested in comprehensively and is modern.

Serving as the administrative, economic, cultural, social, defense, and security center of Tan Son district, after 17 years of investment, construction, and development, Tan Phu commune has now met all the conditions to become a town within the district. Over the years, the commune has consistently maintained a relatively high economic growth rate; the economic structure has shifted towards gradually reducing the proportion of agriculture and increasing the value of small-scale industries, services, and trade.

Within the district, the Tan Phu Industrial Cluster has initially attracted 3 businesses to invest, creating jobs for 1,000 workers and contributing to the shift in labor structure towards increasing the proportion of non-agricultural labor. The model of production and service business on a household scale is quite developed. The entire commune has 5 households with tea processing machines, 15 households involved in wood production and processing, 58 households with transport vehicles and passenger cars, over 350 individual businesses, 12 construction worker groups, 7 carpentry groups, etc.

Commercial and service activities continue to develop, the goods market is increasingly diverse and abundant in terms of types and designs; product quality is gradually improving, and the supply is abundant, meeting the consumption needs of the people. Three banks operate in the commune, creating favorable conditions for people to borrow capital for investment in production and business development, with a total outstanding loan balance of 255 billion VND by the end of 2023. The vast majority of people use bank loans effectively; the bad debt ratio remains at a safe level, below 1%. The commune has formed sustainable agricultural production models through programs for safe vegetable production, applying VietGAP standards; biosafety in livestock farming, etc., linking production and product consumption...

Urban renovation and improvement projects are continuing to receive investment and construction support.

Economic and transportation infrastructure has been gradually invested in and modernized, especially some main arterial roads through the district center, meeting urban transportation standards. Electricity supply to the urban area is relatively reliable, with 100% of the population using the national power grid. Water supply systems ensure the provision of clean water for residents, thereby limiting the spread of waterborne diseases.

To date, the percentage of households with access to clean and hygienic water has reached 99%. The communication system has been built and developed rapidly. National defense, security, and social order and safety are ensured. The material and spiritual lives of the people are constantly improving. Poverty reduction is rapid and sustainable. The quality of the education and health systems is increasingly improving, meeting the needs of the people well... With these achievements, in 2016 Tan Phu commune was recognized as a type V urban area. Over time, Tan Phu commune is still gradually transforming itself to become a bustling town in the future, worthy of being the political , economic, cultural, and social center of Tan Son district.

Comrade Nguyen Xuan Toan - Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee and Chairman of the Tan Son District People's Committee, said: "The establishment of Tan Phu town will create momentum, environment, and conditions for the socio-economic development of the locality, shifting the agricultural and rural economy towards an urban economy with commercial, service, and industrial activities, creating many opportunities for businesses to invest, providing people with more job opportunities, increasing budget revenue for the district, and improving people's income."

However, the establishment of Tan Phu town will also face certain difficulties. In the next phase, Tan Phu needs to continue completing infrastructure projects, urban beautification and renovation; review and evaluate the completion of projects, gradually socialize urban services, environmental sanitation, and urban development towards a "green, clean, beautiful, and civilized" direction; and continue to refine the criteria so that in the near future the National Assembly can approve the proposal to recognize the town, fulfilling the legitimate aspirations of the Party Committee, the government, and the people of all ethnic groups in the area.
