In late November, along shopping streets like Hai Thuong Lan Ong and Phan Dinh Phung, the Christmas atmosphere in Ha Tinh was bustling. From morning till night, stalls displayed red and green colors, interspersed with models of reindeer, snowmen, and a variety of Christmas trees of different sizes. This lively atmosphere signals a vibrant shopping season, with the market recording a significant increase in customers right from the start.
At the decoration shop of Ms. Pham Thi Hong Van (Hai Thuong Lan Ong Street, Thanh Sen Ward), the number of customers has increased sharply in just one week. "Every day, the shop receives 20 to 30 customers who come to look and inquire about prices, mainly from agencies, restaurants, and cafes wanting to decorate early to attract customers. This year, almost every customer is asking about the white snow Christmas tree," Ms. Van said.

A highlight of this year's market is the emergence of many handmade products – a trend proactively developed by stores to gain a competitive advantage. While last year mainly featured round or traditional designs, this year, stores are boldly introducing triangular and geometric designs, incorporating colorful strings, snowflakes, or unusual accessories. The added detail and craftsmanship have resulted in higher prices for some products compared to the same period last year, but these are still accepted by customers due to their uniqueness.
In the mainstream product category, Christmas accessories such as colorful ornaments, bells, ribbons, bows, Christmas glasses/headbands, or Santa Claus costumes remain best-selling items, with prices ranging from 20,000 VND to 500,000 VND depending on material and size. The Christmas tree section continues to be the most premium segment, starting from 800,000 VND for a 1.2m tall model, with white and pink snow pines leading the trend.

The market has also seen a shift, with wholesale buyers accounting for a large proportion right from the start of the season. Many cafes in Ha Tinh city are not hesitant to invest from several million to tens of millions of VND to decorate their spaces in a Christmas style to create a highlight to attract customers to check in – an important factor in the competition among service business models. This is seen as a driving force boosting the consumption of large-scale items such as reindeer models, Christmas trees, and decorative lights.
“My cafe started decorating for Christmas quite early to create an attractive atmosphere for customers during the holiday season. I bought accessories like ornaments, string lights, bows, bells, etc., at the beginning of this month. Some items, such as small decorative scenes, frames, and signs, we made ourselves with our staff to save costs and create a unique touch. The Christmas tree, Santa Claus model, and a few larger accessories still had to be purchased new, but the rest were creatively designed according to the cafe's own style. Starting early helps us manage our time effectively and create a fresh atmosphere for customers right from the beginning of the season,” said Ms. Dau Yen Nhi, owner of a cafe on Phan Dinh Giot Street (Thanh Sen Ward).

According to observations at Christmas decoration stores, this year's new stock has not only increased in quantity but also diversified in materials, ranging from plastic and silk to handcrafted products combining wood and burlap. Cafes and service businesses are also placing large orders to create decorative accents, leading to a significant increase in demand for large-sized reindeer, snowman, and Christmas tree models.
To meet rapidly changing tastes, the store maintains a continuous weekly inventory and keeps a team ready to assist with decorating and styling, helping customers choose from various styles such as warm, classic, or modern white and snow tones.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa, owner of a toy store on Phan Dinh Phung Street, said: “This year, the variety of designs is much greater. Consumers tend to order unique designs with stories or individual styles. We import goods in all sizes and prepare many exclusive designs to welcome the strong growth period in mid-December.”
Small business owners predict that purchasing power will continue to increase sharply in the next two weeks, as families begin decorating their homes. High demand, coupled with product diversity and creative competition among stores, is making the Christmas decoration market in Ha Tinh one of the hottest consumer spots at the end of the year. This momentum is expected to continue until just before the holiday, especially as customers favor spaces that offer experiences and emotional value during the festive season.
