On the evening of August 22, at Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Hanoi , more than 1,000 guests attended the Taste of Australia BBQ Party.
The menu for the event was curated by Australian chef Luke Nguyen, an Australian-Vietnamese chef who is also a Taste of Australia Ambassador. Chef Luke Nguyen opened the event with Australian lamb on a specially designed BBQ for the event.

Highlighting the significance of the event, Chef Luke Nguyen said: "This is the biggest event held this year to celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations between Australia and Vietnam, and one of the biggest culinary festivals in Vietnam ever. I am delighted to be here to promote the excellence of Australian products."
In addition to the roast lamb, diners also enjoyed Australian salmon cooked on cedar planks, six-hour Australian beef ribs and kangaroo sausages, along with Australian wines, soft drinks and juices. The event also featured Australian packaged goods available in Vietnam and an Australian education promotion booth.

During the evening program, guests enjoyed a performance by Australian Indigenous artist - Thelma Plum - who came to Hanoi to promote Australia's rich culture.
Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong said: "Australians love Vietnamese food and this is a great opportunity to invite our friends in Vietnam to taste some of Australia's signature dishes."
"The BBQ is also an opportunity to celebrate 50 years of relations between the two countries, which are underpinned by long-standing people-to-people exchanges, as well as trade and economic connections and cooperation in the field of peacekeeping," she said.

The program was attended by Mr. Hoang Thanh Tung, Chairman of the National Assembly's Law Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam-Australia Friendship Parliamentarians' Group.

Taste of Australia is an annual event series hosted by the Australian Government in Vietnam, bringing together manufacturers, distributors, retailers, restaurants and organisations in Vietnam and Australia to showcase the best of Australian produce.
The Imperial Citadel of Thang Long is one of the most important and iconic historical sites in Hanoi and is recognized by UNESCO as a world cultural heritage. The complex of monuments began construction in the 11th century and served as an important political and military center of Vietnamese dynasties.
