Damage caused by floods in Dien Bien is estimated at 100 billion VND.

Statistics at 5 p.m. on August 1 from the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue (PCTT&TKCN) of Dien Bien province showed that the damage caused by floods and landslides on the night of July 31 and the early morning of August 1 had reached 100 billion VND.

Specifically, the flood on the morning of August 1st caused damage to the houses of more than 231 households. Of which, Xa Dung commune had 47 affected households, with 22 households losing their houses and property due to landslides and floods, concentrated in the villages of Hang Pu Xi, Trong Su A, Tu Xa B and Co De. In addition, 25 households suffered less damage and had to be urgently evacuated due to the risk of landslides.

Tia Dinh commune recorded 15 houses completely damaged and 23 houses severely damaged, 38 households were evacuated to safety. Na Son commune had 37 households affected by landslides and 107 households were flooded, severely affecting the villages: Suoi Lu I, II, III, Bang Choc... Flooding also occurred in Huoi Co village (Phinh Giang commune), Muong Luan village (Muong Luan commune) and 2 houses were damaged by landslides in Tuan Giao commune.

Xa Dung Commune People's Committee headquarters suffered serious landslides. Two primary boarding schools for ethnic minorities: Chua Ta and Quang Trung were severely damaged, with estimated damage of nearly 2.5 billion VND. Suoi Lu Kindergarten was flooded, with one classroom completely destroyed, with damage of about 300 million VND.

Regarding property, Tia Dinh commune lost 9 buffaloes, cows, 9 motorbikes, 2 threshing machines. Xa Dung commune lost 1 cow, 7 pigs, 2 goats, and many household appliances such as threshing machines, refrigerators, safes...

Currently, Muong Luan and Na Son communes in Dien Bien province are isolated due to flood water.

Regarding traffic, many roads were seriously eroded: National Highway 12 through Muong Luan commune was completely flooded; the route from Na Bung commune to Na Hy was eroded at Km8+500; Ta Leng-Muong Phang road was blocked; Sinh Phinh commune had a negative slope eroded with a volume of about 800m³. Some communes such as Na Son, Tia Dinh, and Quai To were isolated, traffic was paralyzed, and access was difficult.

Currently, nearly 1,300 people from various forces have arrived in the area to search for missing people and support people in flood-affected areas to overcome the consequences.
