According to Al Jazeera , at an extraordinary session of the Turkish Parliament on Gaza on August 29, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said Turkey had completely severed economic and trade relations with Israel, and closed its airspace, in protest against Israel's war in Gaza.

“We have completely cut off trade with Israel. We do not allow Israeli planes to enter our airspace,” Minister Fidan said.
Al Jazeera's Resul Serdar reported that the Turkish Foreign Minister's statement came amid increasingly tense relations between the two countries over the years.
“Not only in relation to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Türkiye is gradually considering Israel as a national security threat,” the Turkish foreign minister stressed, noting that Israel’s expansionism and attacks across the Middle East are indeed a cause for concern.
Earlier, in May 2024, Türkiye severed direct trade relations with Israel, demanding a permanent ceasefire and immediate permission to bring humanitarian aid into Gaza.
Last week, Turkish media reported that a shipping ban involving Israel had been imposed, although no official announcement was made. According to reports, Israeli ships were banned from entering Turkish ports, and Turkish-flagged ships were not allowed to enter Israeli ports.
