The WEF Dalian 2024 conference, themed "New Horizons of Growth," took place from June 25-27 in Dalian, China. Second only to the WEF Davos conference in scale, with 1,600 delegates, it was organized with the aim of fostering new ideas, emerging fields, and pioneering, innovative models that will shape the future of the economy .
Conveying a powerful message about a dynamic and innovative Vietnam.
In an interview with the press prior to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's trip, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Thanh Binh stated that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh is one of the few heads of government invited by the World Economic Forum (WEF) and host country China to attend the conference for two consecutive years. This demonstrates the high regard that the WEF and China place on Vietnam's position, role, and contributions to global economic growth, as well as Vietnam's vision for future economic development.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh held discussions with Professor Klaus Schwab, founder and chairman of the World Economic Forum (WEF).
Therefore, the Prime Minister's trip to attend this year's WEF Dalian Conference is of great significance.
Firstly , the Conference is an opportunity for Vietnam to grasp and contribute its voice on new issues, trends, meanings, and driving forces for global economic growth, and to exchange ideas on development and governance at the national and global levels.
Secondly , the conference is an opportunity to promote the achievements of our country's economic and social growth and development, conveying a strong message about Vietnam as a dynamic, innovative country and an attractive destination for global corporations.
Thirdly , the Conference also provides an opportunity for Vietnam to strengthen exchanges and promote relations with countries, partners, and international organizations, affirming our country's role and position in the international community, and contributing to the effective implementation of the foreign policy guidelines of the 13th Party Congress.
According to Deputy Minister Pham Thanh Binh, during this trip, the Prime Minister will hold bilateral talks and meetings with high-ranking Chinese leaders. In the context of recent agreements between the two sides to deepen and elevate the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and China, and to build a strategically significant community of shared future, maintaining high-level contact is extremely important in strengthening political trust, concretizing common understandings and high-level agreements between the two sides. This will contribute positively to the already thriving relationship between the two countries.
High expectations for Vietnam's contribution.
At the Conference, the Prime Minister is expected to have a packed and continuous schedule of activities, both bilateral and multilateral. Notably, this year, for the first time, the Prime Minister will deliver a special speech at the opening plenary session alongside Chinese Premier Li Qiang and other leaders from other countries. In addition, the Prime Minister will speak at the conference's discussion sessions and chair dialogues and seminars with the business community specifically for Vietnam.
Deputy Minister Pham Thanh Binh emphasized: "With Vietnam's achievements in growth and development, I believe that the participation of the Vietnamese delegation, especially that of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, will make a very important contribution to the overall success of the Conference."
