The 27 km segment of the Huu Nghi - Chi Lang expressway has been opened to traffic.

After more than 700 days and nights of construction, the Huu Nghi - Chi Lang expressway project has made significant progress with the completion and opening of a 27 km section for technical traffic.

The Huu Nghi - Chi Lang border gate expressway project has a total length of 60 km, including a 43 km section from Huu Nghi to Chi Lang and a 17 km section connecting the Tan Thanh - Coc Nam border gate. The total investment is over 11,800 billion VND . To date, this project has made significant progress with the completion and technical opening of a 27 km segment from the end point of the Bac Giang - Lang Son expressway to the IC03 interchange connecting with National Highway 4B in Ky Lua ward, Lang Son province.

For the remaining section, the project enterprise and contractors will continue to accelerate construction to strive for the completion of the entire Huu Nghi - Chi Lang expressway by September 2026.

To achieve this result, more than 2,600 officials, engineers, and workers on the construction site worked day and night, continuously working overtime and in extra shifts, while also overcoming difficulties related to weather and the "surge" in raw material prices.

Mr. Tran Van Chuan, Director of the Huu Nghi - Chi Lang Expressway Project Management Board, said: “For the remaining items, the project enterprise and contractors will try to mobilize all resources to implement the project, striving to complete the entire project by September 30th, aiming to shorten the schedule by about 3 months compared to the contract. When the project is completed, it will ensure connectivity between expressways in the surrounding area, significantly reducing the burden on the already overloaded National Highway 1A. Based on the detailed schedule built for each item and each stage, we have mobilized approximately 2,600 personnel, more than 1,300 machines and equipment, and organized over 130 construction teams to ensure the project's progress.”

The completion of the first 27 km segment has eliminated the dead-end connection point from the currently operating Bac Giang - Lang Son expressway to Ky Lua ward, reducing traffic pressure and contributing to limiting the risk of traffic accidents on the existing National Highway 1A. For the remaining section, the project enterprise and contractors will continue to accelerate construction to strive for the completion of the entire Huu Nghi - Chi Lang expressway by September 2026.

After more than 700 days and nights of continuous construction, the Huu Nghi - Chi Lang expressway project has recorded a significant milestone with the completion and opening of a 27km section for technical traffic.

Mr. Bui Hoang Nam, Director of the Investment and Construction Project Management Board of Lang Son province, shared: “The investor and our Management Board are striving to complete the entire project by September 30th, shortening the schedule by about 3 months compared to the signed contract. When this expressway is put into operation, it will alleviate congestion on the existing National Highway 1A, which currently has a very high volume of traffic, especially in the late afternoon and evening. Once the entire route is open, it will shorten travel time and facilitate the transportation of goods from southern provinces to border gates in Lang Son province, contributing to socio-economic development and increasing logistics services in the area.”
