Goalkeeper Le Thi Thu aims for the highest goal in the Southeast Asian tournament

Looking forward to the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's U19 Championship which will officially kick off on June 9 in Ho Chi Minh City, the National Women's U19 team is actively training with great determination. On the afternoon of June 2, the whole team continued to have a training session to improve their skills.

For the past 2 weeks, the team has been stationed at Thanh Long Sports Center (Ho Chi Minh City). To test the team, the coaching staff has arranged 2 friendly matches: on May 28, the Vietnam U19 women's team won 6-2 against Au Lac Club - District 7; on May 29, the team continued to win 1-0 against Ho Chi Minh City U19 women's team. These are all valuable opportunities to compete before entering the official tournament.

Sharing about the preparation process, goalkeeper Le Thi Thu - a young athlete who was assigned to be the main goalkeeper at the 2024 AFC U20 Women's Finals in Uzbekistan - said: "We have been gathering at Thanh Long Sports Center for more than 2 weeks. During that time, the whole team has been practicing very seriously to improve their physical strength, technique and understand each other better in competition. Everyone is determined to perform their best when on the field."

Regarding her personal condition, Le Thi Thu said: "Currently, I feel in good physical condition and very excited because I get to compete in an international tournament right at home - this is something very special."

The goalkeeper born in 2007 also emphasized the important role of fans in the upcoming journey: “Playing at home is a big advantage for us. Having the audience cheering us on directly will give us a lot of motivation. I hope fans will come to the stadium to support the Vietnam U19 women's team.”

Talking about her personal goals for this tournament, Le Thi Thu affirmed: “I want to give my all, perform well in my assigned role and contribute to helping the team go deep into the tournament. As a goalkeeper, I will try to create safety in the defense and in the goal.”

Le Thi Thu also sent a message to the audience: “I would like to thank the fans for always following and supporting women's football, especially young players like us. I hope everyone will come to the stadium to cheer for the Vietnam U19 women's team. The whole team will play their best for the country's flag.”

The 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Women's Championship is not only an important playground for young players but also an opportunity to demonstrate the image, bravery and development of Vietnamese women's football.
