Goalkeeper Filip Nguyen wishes to wear the Vietnamese national team jersey

Officially joining the Hanoi Police Club for a 3-year term, overseas Vietnamese goalkeeper Filip Nguyen has not been able to play in round 13 of V-League 2023. The goalkeeper born in 1992 needs time to integrate and get acquainted with his new teammates. Therefore, the match between Hanoi Police Club and SHB Da Nang at 5:00 p.m. on July 2 at Hoa Xuan Stadium is an opportunity for Filip Nguyen to observe the playing style of his new team.

Before recruiting Filip Nguyen, Hanoi Police Club had 3 goalkeepers: Bui Tien Dung, Patrik Le Giang and Do Sy Huy. Overseas Vietnamese goalkeeper Patrik Le Giang is the "goalkeeper" in the official squad of the Police team while Bui Tien Dung is losing his form and wishes to leave to play for Ho Chi Minh City Club.

Filip Nguyen is considered the player with the highest transfer value in V-League.

With a level surpassing his colleagues, the No. 1 goalkeeper position of Hanoi Police Club will belong to Filip Nguyen from phase 2 of V-League 2023. "My goal is to devote all my efforts to the new team. If I play well and get to wear the Vietnam national team jersey, I will be very happy, it is a great honor. The difficulty for me is that I am not used to the climate and style of play in Vietnam. However, I need to adapt soon and try my best" - Filip Nguyen shared.

Filip Nguyen came from the Sparta Prague training camp and was called up to the Czech Republic national team in 2020. His father is Vietnamese and he had an unsuccessful trial with Thanh Hoa FC in 2016. In his return to his homeland to compete this time, Filip Nguyen is considered the most expensive player in the V-League and many sources say he receives a higher salary than Nguyen Quang Hai when playing for the Hanoi Police FC.

Because he has not completed the naturalization procedure, Filip Nguyen is registered to play in V-League 2023 as an overseas Vietnamese player. He also said that this is the 4th time he has returned to Vietnam and is planning to learn Vietnamese, which will facilitate his quick integration with the new team.

"Vietnamese is a bit difficult but I will try to learn it quickly. First, I will learn some basic sentences to integrate into the team. I also have many friends in Vietnam and they will help me" - Filip Nguyen added.
