Deputy Minister Do Thanh Trung works with Australian business delegation

(MPI) - On June 17, 2024, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Planning and Investment , Deputy Minister Do Thanh Trung had a working session with the Australian business delegation led by Mr. Harry Hughes, Head of Green Strategy and Carbon, Global Advisory Group.

At the meeting, the two sides shared their experiences in developing and implementing policies and strategies for sustainable development and green growth. At the same time, they proposed cooperation in research and investment in trade between the two countries in areas such as clean energy, carbon reduction, etc. Establishing standards to promote sustainable green growth and developing comprehensive carbon reduction strategies.

Mr. Harry Hughes, Head of Green and Carbon Strategy, believes that Australia’s experience in green growth, waste and carbon reduction will bring valuable experience and knowledge to Vietnam. Australia and Vietnam are working hard to share the benefits of the transition to clean energy. Cooperation is the key to unlocking economic opportunities for the two countries and international partners who are also going through the clean energy transition.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Do Thanh Trung thanked the Australian business delegation for coming to Vietnam to learn about information and investment opportunities and said that at the COP26 Conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed Vietnam's determination to implement the commitment to net zero emissions by 2050. To achieve this goal, Vietnam has issued the National Strategy on Green Growth for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050; the National Action Plan on Green Growth for the 2021-2030 period with the general goal of green growth contributing to promoting economic restructuring associated with growth model innovation to achieve economic prosperity, environmental sustainability and social equity; towards a green, carbon-neutral economy and contributing to the goal of limiting global temperature rise.

The Deputy Minister emphasized that the Ministry of Planning and Investment, as the national focal point for green growth, always welcomes and is ready to support foreign enterprises to invest and develop in Vietnam./.
