Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong joins the Jury of the 2nd International Rachmaninoff Competition

Associate Professor, Dr. Ta Quang Dong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, participated in the Jury of the 2nd International Rachmaninoff Competition for pianists, composers and conductors in Russia.

The 2nd International Rachmaninoff Competition for Pianists, Composers and Conductors is held in Moscow, Russian Federation from June 14 to 26, 2025, founded and sponsored by the Government of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.

People's Artist of Russia, Pianist Denis Matsuev took on the role of Artistic Director and initiator of the Competition. Together with leading experts in the field of academic music in the world, Associate Professor Dr. Ta Quang Dong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism was invited to join the International Jury of the International Piano category at the Competition.

In addition, Associate Professor, Doctor, musician Do Hong Quan, Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations , participated in the International Jury for the composition category at the Competition.

The Rachmaninoff Competition is a forum for public discussion and performance of the achievements of pianists and conductors, as well as the works of contemporary composers. The competition contributes to the preservation and promotion of Rachmaninoff's compositional legacy, creates conditions for affirming talents and supporting the professional activities of young musicians in three specialties: Piano, Composition and Conducting, reflecting the great musical career of Rachmaninoff - an unparalleled virtuoso pianist, outstanding conductor and great composer of the Russian Federation who left a huge cultural legacy to humanity.

The Organizing Committee received 532 applications from 25 countries for the 2025 Competition. Based on the results of the selection round, 65 artists from 16 countries (Russia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Great Britain, Germany, Kazakhstan, China, Spain, Italy, Romania, Slovenia, the United States, Uzbekistan, Ecuador, South Korea and Japan) participated in the Competition. The opening ceremony of the 2nd Rachmaninoff International Competition for Pianists, Composers and Conductors took place on June 14, 2025 at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow.

The award ceremony will take place on June 27 in Moscow, Russia. The Gala to congratulate the winners will take place on the evening of June 27, 2025 at the Grand Concert Hall, Tchaikovsky State Conservatory, Moscow.

This is the second time that Associate Professor Dr. Ta Quang Dong has been invited by the Russian Federation to join the Competition's Jury. This not only affirms Vietnam's prestige in terms of expertise in the field of academic arts, but also contributes positively to strengthening Vietnam-Russia cooperation in culture and arts, especially in the context of the two countries having many cultural programs to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Russia diplomatic relations in 2025.

Through the prestige and capacity of each member of the Jury at the Competition, the position of countries, including Vietnam, on the world map of academic music is strengthened. Activities within the framework of the Competition create connections between leading music professors and Vietnam, opening up new opportunities, fostering the development of academic music in Vietnam in the future and Vietnam can aim to organize international music competitions with the participation of leading judges, of world stature./.
