This change comes as the government faces allegations of corruption and other misconduct.

One of the notable points in this reshuffle is the position of Foreign Minister. Accordingly, Igli Hasani, former Albanian Ambassador to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in Vienna (Austria), will replace Olta Xhaçka, who has held the position of Foreign Minister since 2021.

Ms. Xhaçka is currently embroiled in a legal dispute concerning her husband's unclear interests in a resort complex project on the southern coast of Albania.

Other cabinet changes include the appointment of Ervin Mete, Director of the Financial Supervisory Authority, who previously served as Deputy Finance Minister (2013-2017), as Finance Minister, replacing Delina Ibrahimaj, who will be transferred to State Secretary for Enterprise Affairs, replacing Edona Bilali.

The Ministries of Education, Health, and Agriculture also have new leaders amid recent allegations of corruption in the Agriculture Ministry's implementation of agricultural projects.

Prime Minister Rama also announced the merger of the Ministry of Standards and Services into the Ministry of Local Government, with the current Deputy Mayor of Tirana, Arbjan Mazniku, serving as the minister.

Rama has served as Prime Minister of Albania since 2013. He announced a cabinet reshuffle aimed at aligning government priorities with a focus on strengthening the judicial system and transforming the country into a high-end tourist destination.
